In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Do different dealers have shorter wait times on orders?

I'm not opposed to paying over MSRP if the wait time is shorter (i.e., 1-2 months vs. 4-5 months).

I've assumed Kia (the manufacturer) has to be fair across their Dealers where they have to fulfill orders fairly. Are there shorter order fulfillment times for dealers that are not charging over MSRP as I would assume they would, naturally, book more orders - which in turn create a longer order fulfillment time for orders booked by that dealer?

Thanks,
Dan

High-volume dealers will have higher throughput, but they might have longer queues. Some of these dealers sell at MSRP… some do not… it’s individual. I wish there were a neater/simpler answer.

Thanks ... what I'm trying to determine is if there is an ability to get a shorter timeframe at the expense of paying for more .

For example -- $3k above MSRP, but definitely not above $5k over MSRP. If there were a dealer that could confidently deliver my order within 2 months - I would pay over MSRP to reduce the wait time. If not, then I might as well get in line with a dealer that is able to order at MSRP.

I don't think it's possible and if it were possible it would be pretty dishonest of a dealership to do so. Also because of the ordering process I don't think this would drastically shorten the timeframe to receive the vehicle. There are several dealers throughout the country that are higher volume and sell at MSRP, in general higher volume dealers will get you the vehicle quicker. Look at the good dealer/bad dealer thread that is pinned at the top of the "How to buy a kia talluride" forum for dealers that sell at MSRP. Look at failcat.com to view volume by dealership so you can find a higher volume dealer within the area you're willing to travel to pick up. Also, once you've narrowed it down to some potential dealerships you can call them and they should be able to give you an estimate of order to delivery timeframe. Good Luck!

There’s no point making any of these assumptions. Search the forum for dealers near you who charge no markup over MSRP on orders. Talk to them, see what lead times they are projecting, and most importantly, ask them if they have something incoming that is close to your desired build.

The dealers we found in WA, CA, and NV that had only $3k above MSRP had 10-12mo waits. Everyone else was $8-15k over on new, some $20k over on 2022 preowned models that the dealer bought from another across the country at MSRP and 50mi on it, knowing they can get the profit with the current market. We’re ordering out of state from i25 Kia in CO for MSRP. High volume dealer with 4-5mo timeframe, possibly sooner.
