Does a 6-8 month wait for an ordered SX sound about right?

Hi,

Using this forum, I found Fort Bend Texas Kia, which doesn't add any type of mark up. They just charge MSRP.
The salesperson indicated for any ordered Telluride, the wait period is between 6-8 months. Does that sound about right? Anyone getting their Telluride in a shorter period?

I'm open to checking out other dealers who may have a shorter wait period. Just let me know.

Thx!

That’s typical if the dealership is relatively low volume or has quite a few outstanding orders. It is possible to get one sooner - Huffines Kia Corinth is going to have mine in 5 months (see my signature). Possibly would have been 4 months if I hadn’t changed my order a month in.

I've been getting estimates for an SX order in the 7-16 month time frame!

WOW!-well I ordered mine on 7/31 from a high volume dealer and now he's telling me it could be Jan/Feb before I see the vehicle.

That sounds about right. You can check with this dealership in Colorado. (Peak Kia) I've heard alot of good things about them and you may be able to get it sooner, some folks have flew to colorado and driven the vehicle back others have had the vehicle delivered and paid the fee for transport.

I'd definitely check elsewhere, out of state even. Seems i25 Kia in Colorado has been getting SX AWDs in 3-4 months (many people from California order there). You can pay $1500 or so to have it shipped, of make a road trip out of picking it up.

Just one data point, I ordered mine on 7/19, received on 10/25 (arrived several days before that). Order wait is all about the individual dealer, their backlog of orders and their allocation of new Tellurides. I was a little concerned on mine as I chose Butterscotch interior that doesn't show up much on Failcat.

I had planned to make a road trip to I-25 myself, I go out to Colorado a couple of times a year anyway. But when I found a dealer at MSRP 3 hours away and in my state, I went with them instead.

I have an SX order pending with Fort Bend Kia as well. On failcat, it appears they average 35-45 Tellurides a month so a pretty good volume. I'm guessing they just have a lot of orders backed up because they are selling at MSRP and no mandatory add-ons. They are so very customer service oriented I wouldn't be surprised if they are over estimating time to ensure no one gets one later than expected. But I have no idea. I ordered Aug 20 and don't yet have an ETA but was also told 6-8 months.

I ordered mine from Peak Kia North. They told me they have been pretty good about the 4-6 month range

I placed my order October 21 and was told yesterday Kia is “pausing Telluride orders” and that there is a “parts delay.” I wanted to change the color of the telluride knowing it would set me back. Initially I was told 3-5 months and now being told at least 6 months. He couldn’t accept my new order as they are not accepting new orders at this time.

When I ordered mine on Thursday there was no mention of this. Who was your sales person?

I’m in Illinois - Classic Kia of Waukegan. I was told this “parts delay” is nationwide.

I ordered mine from Peak Kia North on October 15th. Was told 3-5 months and that I was at the top of the list for an EX with a bench seat as they didn't have any orders for a bench seat at the time of my order. My salesman figured I'd get it towards the end of January/begining of February.

Who have you worked with? I ordered one for my wife really and she wanted just the base LX with a bench seat

James Titchenell.

I specifically asked where I was on the list when I ordered. James told me they get around 30-45 tellurides allocated per month. I compared the wait list from I25 and Peak to place my order. Since the price was virtually the same it became my deciding factor. Plus Peak quoted me a $250 less shipping cost over I25.
