• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does trim level, exterior and interior color effect when KIA picks up an order?

I hope I'm making sense. I ordered a Dark Moss/ Dune interior SX prestige AWD with tow package on April 1, 2021. Was told by the dealership to expect delivery within 120 days but they were seeing average of 100 days. Checked in every 3 weeks and was told no word. I received a call June 7th saying that I would be receiving a 2022 and that the clock started as of June 1st not April when I originally ordered (make sense?). Delivery would be sometime in early to mid October. As I've been perusing the threads here, I see others who ordered around the time that I did or even after and they have either just received or have an ETA for their Telluride. Does color and trim have an effect on whether one gets their order earlier or later?

The thing that makes the difference it how many orders are in front of you at that dealership, and how many that dealership is allotted every month. Has nothing to do with color etc.
Higher volume dealers get more vehicles.
If your dealer only gets 2 a month and you’re 10th in line it will take 5 months for the order to get picked up. If you went to a higher volume dealer and you were 45th in line but they get 60 every month then yours would likely be picked up in a month.
Trim may play a role as dealers get certain amount of each trim.

This is just my take from reading the forums. Dealers on here may have other info.

Ok thank you. I guess I will call my dealership and see about their volumes and where I am on the list. Wish I would have found this forum before I ordered. I could have done more research and found high volume dealerships in my area.

I had a conversation with the GM of the dealer I am using. He told me in a general conversation that because I had ordered the "Nightfall Edition" I would be moving up faster, because they had a large supply of that option available. From start to finish it should be 13 weeks. My Telluride was originally a 2021, now it will be a 2022. My schedule for delivery has never changed do the model year change. It has been a little longer than anticipated, but I was expecting that. ETA is the 5th of July,or 5 days before or 5 days after. The dealer said my contract price would not change. Hope this info helps.

What was the timeline from you ordering to KIA picking up your order?

failcat.com , poke around and look at the "dealers" section. Search by zip code (easiest sort) and see how many total orders your dealer has. This is not information your salesman has readily available, so you're better off doing your own research.

The fact that your dealer is telling you the clock reset in June is BS. Your place in line should remain the same. But then again, 120 day lead time was not likely to happen anyway, most folks here are waiting much longer than that to get at MSRP.

April 2nd they received my deposit. I was informed my car will arrive by the 5th of July. Maybe 5 days earlier or 5 days later than the 5th.

Well, not exactly. What happened in early June as I understand it is that KFOS closed for a week or so. At that time, all 2021 orders that had not been picked up in KFOS had to have customer confirmation that they would accept the 2022, and the orders had to be refreshed in KFOS when it reopened. It did reset the expected delivery dates for many of the 2021 orders that became 2022 orders. Seems that the 'expected ETA' that some dealer are quoting is subject to a number of factors, including the dealer allocation per month, length of their line of orders entered in the Dealer system but no yet picked up in KFOS. Its a rough estimate at best, but there are a few cases when cars have arrived earlier than expected. Be patient. It's worth the wait.

Everything you say above notwithstanding, his place in line should not be affected by switchover to MY22. If he was 50th in line before the switch, he should still be 50th now, minus how many cars were allocated this month (and according to @StephenCantrelle it was quite a few). They quoted him 4 months, and 3 months into it they're resetting the clock - that is fishy.
