• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have a 2020 SX AWD with about 5,000 miles. I've noticed recently that when I'm doing anywhere from 20-40 mph and give it gas it's reluctant to downshift to accelerate. It seems to bog down in the 1,500-2,000 rpm range with decent pedal travel. If I really get my foot in it, it will downshift and get into the higher rpms, but not the normal small bump down to get going if that makes sense. I'm in comfort mode and it's been hot and humid here in Alabama. Anyone else experience this?

n Georgia and mine does that in comfort so I keep mine in smart and it seems to shift better.

Thanks, misery loves company! My car was built in Dec 2019, didn't know if the transmission TSB applies to mine as I can't find the build date.

Your build date is in your door jamb if you’re looking for that.

Learn something new everyday, thanks much. My car was built on 12/10/19, ironically the date range for the TCM reflash is through 12/9/19!

Same question was reported by others.

Likely explaination is engine breaking for efficiency/longevity.

This is acceleration issue I'm experiencing not deceleration.

I have the exact same problem. I notice it mostly when turning a corner without stoping and trying to accelerate it just seems to bog down and slowly, as rpms build ,it picks up speed. It is worse in smart mode and slightly better in sport. That is my only disappointment with this car. Mine is a 2020 SXP 11,000 miles.

Is the common thread that this is happening on AWD only? Has anyone experienced any weird downshifting on a FWD?

'21 AWD, just built. We took it back to the dealership for a check I because of this issue. Dealer mechanics said it's the dual clutch transmission and common in AWD vehicles during slow down for gas mileage. Seems like Smart mode makes it less noticeable. Easily my least favorite thing about it, but that's because everything else is awesome!

The Telluride doesn’t have a dual clutch transmission. Maybe they were thinking of the new Sorento (which does)?

That's embarrassing, for them and for me. It's particularly noticeable when coasting up hill at low speeds. Definitely didn't notice this when test driving. May be related to the AWD system? But would that affect the transmission when just coasting to stop?

There is a note about “shock” when AWD lock disengages. Maybe that’s what is happening?

I was going to play with this to see what happened, thanks for the info. Maybe I'm feeling the transition back and forth between Lock and Auto. If it is I wonder if there is a way to disengage it in settings. I'll follow up, thank you!

I’m pretty sure this is not the issue. Nobody uses AWD lock in daily driving and it isn’t designed for use on dry pavement anyway.

my most hated feature... feel like selling the car cause it’s so damn annoying. seriously come on kia
