• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Got a case for the key fob! Really hoping to avoid the “broken-in” look of my previous key fob. BD3DB936-4C26-46EC-BE32-8E759406B959.webp

Looks pretty awesome, where'd you pick that one up?

I got the same one for my spare key from Amazon. Like many others, I ordered the leather one from etsy for my main key.

The leather looks nice!

How will you pop that thing open to access your key when the battery dies and your away from home?

It’s a 2-piece shell that would have to be separated — a tolerable inconvenience.
I have something very similar. Looks identical, but bought on Etsy. Once the shell is closed it’s a PITA to open unless you have a knife or something with you. I mention this so you’re prepared.

The heads-up is appreciated! I will have to do a dry run at home soon to figure out how I can get it open, short of bashing it on a rock otter style.

Are people buying these because the key fob breaks easily? Or just to protect against scratches?

My last key fob (diff make) got really beat up and didn’t work so well after a number of years. I am hoping to avoid the same fate for this one.

I've had a battery die in a key fob before...it took about 5 years to happen 🙃. Be prepared!

Sounds about right! My previous car was 11 yrs old, and the fob probably had 2 battery changes.

I do hope this fob case design is smarter than my old one — replacing the battery exposed the whole circuit board, and you had to be sure to put it all back together just so.
