  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Ethics question. Looking at the paperwork on my order form and the sales man ( who no longer works there) wrote 500$ under invoice instead of 500$ over invoice. My car will be here in about 2 weeks. Do I push for what was signed for and risk other hikes? Do I point it out and accept that 500$ over invoice is still an excellent deal on a Telly.

In my opinion, nobody should pay more than the MSRP. I bought my EX two weeks ago and got a $1,500 cash back offer for financing through Kia. Plus, the dealer gave me a "courtesy" 1% off MSRP, or $406. So my MSRP of $40,630 was reduced by a total of $1,906 bringing the final price to $38,724.

Ethically, you agreed to pay $500 over MSRP. But..... it's not like deals can't be renegotiated. It happens all the time.

Dealers are unethical all the time ... $500 nitrogen, $999 dealer prep, $1500 paint protection ... the list goes on and on. You have a signed deal, but you’re not out of the woods yet, they will try all sorts of other tactics to get you to pay more ... outrageous interest, last minute “fees”, etc. Stand your ground and pay for what is signed. Chalk it up to one of life’s little victories!

You previously posted your deal sheet, correct? The numbers you showed look reasonable - $1000 discount off MSRP, and $1900 KMF rebate (is that finance + military?) on the EX AWD. Trade was $2500, taxes and fees seem high, but possible. Are you referring to that deal sheet? I'd stick to the numbers you agreed on. Or, are you referring to something else?

Why is that an ethics question if numbers were signed by you and sales manager? If it wasn't signed / executed by a sales manager, you might have a surprise.

Yes, that’s part of what confused me. Over the phone he said 500 over invoice , when I came in he drove my 2013 vw Routan and handed me the deal sheet. Then he went and talked to the manager. Next he came back and told me there wasn’t any ex awd dark moss local but we could order it. ( I thought from a another dealer) we filled out the order sheet ( 500 under invoice ) we both signed it and I left.
He called me 2 weeks later and said it won’t be here till the end of sept.
A few days ago I went to the dealer to see if there was any news ( salesman never returns calls ) and they told me he didn’t work there any more. But that the vin is here and the car should be here sept 17. I came home and saw the discrepancy in the paperwork, deal sheet and order sheet and offer on the phone are all different.
My instinct is to bring it all to the current manager and get a clear price.

Yes, you need to do that ASAP to avoid discrepancies and the potential for a market adjustment when it arrives. Best to just get the sales order numbers nailed down with him in writing.
