If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello! I have a deposit on an inbound Telluride due in mid to late January (dealer sent me vin and sticker). Should I purchase an extended warranty? I'm leaning towards yes due to all of the electronics. How much should I pay? Is it true I can buy an extended warranty from another dealer? I heard that Kia of Muncie (Indiana) will sell one for $1500...I'm in NJ buying my Telly in Pa. Any advice welcome. Thank you!

As far as I know; you can buy an extended warranty from anyone at anytime

thank you!
I would wait until after you get it. I purchased mine from Kia of Muncie as well as quite a few on this forum.
Ok thanks! This would be my first time doing this so I wanted to be sure, but I had seen several posts about it so that was my plan!!

Also in NJ and shopping for one... what dealer did you buy from in PA? Did you get it for MSRP?

Murray Kia in Conshohocken (outside Philly). Ask for Jeffrey Richner (tell him Alicia Beachem referred you). They will sell at MSRP. They are a high volume Kia dealership. I did have to wait a few months for one with my ideal specifications to come in. I put a down payment on an inbound in October (after having previously put a down payment on an inbound from Cherry Hill...in June...they up and refunded my deposit (in October) and never told me why. I think it's because they had agreed to sell to me at MSRP but then I heard from others that they were marking up...I guess they decided they no longer wanted to honor our agreement)...Jeff from Murray just called me and told me it should be in mid to late January. Sent me the window sticker/vin. No games so far. I was referred to him by several people in the Telluride Facebook group.

Great luck with Murray as well. Took around two months from order to delivery, picked it up in October. MSRP. No BS and add-ons. I live in central PA but it was worth the drive. It’s a great vehicle, love it.

Ooh, thanks for sharing! Yes, I had heard good things but of course since I haven't actually gone through it yet was still worried....the backroom always scares me lol!

I also purchased from Murray Kia - they are down the road from me. Jeff is great!
Actually upgrading from EX to SX - and went with a different dealer only because I didn’t want to wait and another dealer had it in stock.

I also worked with Jeff on my (now) first Telly. They are just down the road from me and Jeff is great.

About to upgrade and didn’t want to wait months for the order to even be placed so I jumped on a deal that had what I want available and unallocated.

Jeff is great. I hated Cherry Hill - they would not sell without a markup.
As for warranty, Murray was negotiable - but there was a $50 deductible and it’s sounds like the one from Muncie doesn’t even have that.

Hey - I bought the almost-loaded moss Nightfall with tow package, leather, etc. down here in FL, and got the insurance coverage. I've owned all kinds of cars, boats, motorcycles, and this is the first time I ever paid for extended. The extended warranty is the same price down here, which is through AllState, I believe (I'd have to dig out my records). It can be canceled any time in the future after you buy it, and you'll be refunded the money (prorated). If you DO cancel, you'll be dealing with Allstate, not Kia.. In the past, an extended warranty was a rip-off, and you could never cancel once you got suckered into buying it, but not so with this. Today's cars are ladened with massive amounts of tech, especially the Telluride. The head unit replacement itself (the tablet on the dash) will cost a lot more than the entire price of the warranty if you need to fix or replace it once it falls out of Kia's warranty period. So, when was the last time one of your personal tech items in your life failed or even froze (laptop, phone, tablet, or anything else controlled by technology? Yep, it will happen eventually, and probably outside of Kia's own coverage. Buy it, and you'll sleep better, like me :) Besides, like I said, you can cancel it any time in the future and get some money back. Thumbs up for getting this warranty. Please don't go cheap and pass on it with this car. You'll be seriously thankful for getting it, especially if your car turns out to be one with issues, or a lemon!

Is that their vehicle service contract?

No, the extended warranty (more like an insurance policy on the car) is completely through the third-party provider, not Kia. But you do sign and pay for the extended warranty paperwork at the dealership at time of purchase, so you can roll the cost of the warranty into the loan. I paid cash for the car, but I did have the option to roll it into the loan if i did want to finance. The warranty paperwork is very transparent. The prorated refund info is clearly stated in there as well. I read the warranty completely. It'll cover you close to 100% after the Kia warranties expire over time. It won't cover you for obvious stuff, like beating the head unit with a hammer, or failing to put oil in the motor.
