In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... For those of you who have ordered from the factory lately, how long did it take to get a FA (factory allocation)? It's been almost a month for me and the dealership is saying they haven't received anything from the factory. Is this normal?

I ordered two months ago and no FA. I would like to know the time frame between allocation and start of production.

I would start with an order ID# from your dealer to make sure that the order was actually placed.

Ok, and if I have an order number, what do I do with it?

Everything depends on your dealer and how many allocations they get, and how many of each trim. You can see how many cars are being produced and filter by dealer, etc.. Right now it's making me worried I'll never see my car, so almost better to just not look at the forums.

:D. Didn't know if there was a way to verify that they weren't fabricating the order number (they've lied about so much thus far).
Sounds like a great dealer 😳

The dealer I ordered through has sold over 180 units. It was 14.5 weeks to get allocated for a SX AWD.

Was told they were only building top model right now .In Canada that’s the SXL

They being KIA? Any dealers confirm this? If the factory were to switch to just SXL and SXP production...it would be a quick way to clear some of the backlog of higher profit margin cars while at the same time get ready for a model year switch over.

They won't do this

No, sorry ,”They “ being the dealer where I ordered the vehicle.

It would make too much sense to clear out the backlog of legitimately ordered vehicles. Instead, lets just pump out inventory cars so that dealers can jack the price up $2-$10k over sticker and keep the dealership base happy... ugh.

As a person with an SX-P on order - it would be great if they did that - but KIA also needs to get dealers to a point where they have a reasonable inventory. Right now on Cars.com there are 1,312 Tellurides of all trim levels available for sale. Considering KIA sold 6,496 in December (which had additional closed days due to the Christmas break) that means KIA has less than one week of cars in inventory. By comparison - Ford has 38,186 new Explorers sitting on dealer lots - which equates to more than they sold in Q3 2019 and about 75% of their Q4 sales!! Ideally KIA would get to a point where they had 4-6 weeks of sales in inventory. At the current demand plus production rates - it is going to be a long time until they catch up. So - Yes - they still need to be producing other cars besides the backlog of SX-P's on order.

I wouldn't worry about inventory, they're selling w/ in 72 hours of arrival. Long times on the lots means more costs incurred by the dealerships. They're all making $ on each of these sold....don't let them tell you otherwise, some here will say margins are low...yada yada which I don't believe when you look at getting $5-10k off MSRP on most of Kia's other vehicles at the dealers near me (their advertised prices on websites).

Ford has a lot of inventory on the Explorer because of 2 things. 1) It's totally redesigned but 90% of people couldn't tell it's all that different than the prior generation and 2) Price... way too expensive for what you get.

And because the interior is one of the lowest quality interiors in the segment.
