Factory order in NJ

Just placed the order at Nutley. SX prestige nightfall. Was told can take 6-9 months :(
Nutley, just for kicks I reached out to them this week. Yes, they are responsive all right, but for ordering, they want a 10% DEPOSIT
Meaning if your SX clocks in at $50k, you'll need to hand over $5k before they will even consider starting the paperwork for you. OOOOKAY. 🤑🤑🤑🤑

Yes this is true. But based on the dealership situation here in NJ that's much better I guess than paying a markup of 5K.

I didn’t have a problem with that. Less to finance. And they will refund it to you when they sell your car (which should take about 3 seconds) if you back out.

Beats giving a $500 deposit to a dealer with a 10K markup.

What's wrong with that? The money goes toward the car anyway.

I live in NJ right across from Philadelphia and I went with Murray Kia in Conshohocken, PA when I got my 2020. No games at all and got MSRP. Ask for Roger.
I will also give a big thumbs to Murray. Their internet sales manager, Roger, was a no BS guy and easy to deal with; no games and they are one of the few dealers around who sell at MSRP. I put a deposit on an EX-P only a few weeks ago and found out this past Weds that Kia processed the order and the car is projected to arrive at Murray in mid-September, much earlier than I expected.

Soapbox speech: IMO, Murray is doing right by their customers and deserves your business, unlike the other dealers in Pennsylvania marking up their Tellurides by $7,500 - $10,000 just because they can. Those other guys will get some sales in the present crazy environment, and they will certainly make windfall short term profits, but unlike Murray, the will have no loyal, repeat customers for when the lean times come. And they are not doing the Kia brand any favors either.

I’m also in NJ and thinking of ordering soon so this topic is definitely of interest to me.

That being said, I don’t understand what people mean by ordering at MSRP in the context of NJ where dealer fees are unregulated. The Kia dealer near me has $1,000+ in dealer fees so even if they took an “MSRP” order I’d still be paying a significant markup out the door (OTD) after all was said and done.

So Srideep and others, what were your OTD prices including all the dealer fees?

PA is capped at $389 and NY at $75 so that’s another option. While I’ve been lurking I’ve seen Dutchess Kia in NY mentioned. I wouldn’t mind paying a small premium in the form of higher doc fees to stay local but nothing exorbitant.

I have an order at Abeloff Kia in Stroudsburg PA at MSRP and the process has been smooth and easy.

Good to know! I assume OTD is MSRP selling price + $389 doc + TTL? Any other fees?

Possibly… NJ charges a 0.4% tax on “luxury cars”. If the car’s MSRP comes to over $45,000, you have to pay the tax, even if buying out of state. My car’s MSRP was over that amount, so I had to pay the state its extortion fee.

Nutley Kia charges a $399 doc fee.

Good reminder of the 0.4% luxury surcharge. Good to know that Nutley Kia has a reasonable doc fee by NJ standards and almost on par with PA

No other fees. Doc fee varies by state (NJ higher than NY I believe).

What was your order to delivery timeframe?
I did my order over the phone with them on June 29th, VIN # came up on July 27th, and expecting delivery August 25th (they had quoted 4 months but said it could be sooner).
