failcat.com Update

Hi all!

Just wanted to let you know that the torch has been passed and failcat.com will live on (all-be-it at a new home). @tellurideinvt has graciously taken over the reins. He has actually lapped me and the new site has a bit more information.

Starting next week Thursday, when/if you visit failcat.com, you will be automatically be forwarded over to the new website at Telluride Lookup. Please update any bookmarks between then and now!

Since we are ahead of schedule, failcat.com will be shutting down on March 24th instead of April 1st.

Again, I would like to thank @tellurideinvt and those who have come before me @Michelw and @foresterh , for @mitchkramez who helped me through dumb spots I couldn't figure out and for all of you who made a simple little site so important.

Thank you for ALL that you have done! Random question - are the VIN's loading at different times now? I noticed yesterday morning there was no update, but by the afternoon there were 700+ VINs added.

I'm a goofball. Just realized I have to go to the new site! Ignore this! LOL

It's completely up to you. As mentioned you will be forwarded there starting next Thursday if you visit failcat.com directly.

If the new one works the same as the old one, it's the way it scrapes data. Sometimes there's a hiccup. It should eventually go back and find the missing ones. My last Telly didn't show up in failcat initially but finally did after a couple of weeks.

Mine showed up as 3/10 on the old failcat and 3/12 in the new one.

I think the scraping process had a blip in early March and data is missing.

At this point I don't think it is very reliable and you can no longer get the stickers of the cars. I used to love this site.

I think a little grace should be given to the new developer. I'm sure it's not an easy undertaking and I would be willing to guess that some of the information didn't pull over during the few days when the new website was created. Any time a new website or system is developed, there are glitches and bugs that need to be worked through, and it takes time to smooth out those faults. It's been less than 2 weeks since the new developer took over. I think they deserve a little patience and time to work through the changes before we can say whether or not the new site is going to be reliable or not.

OK so again Vin 382093 did not pick up in the new site. I am only looking at Florida Sx-P XP-PRO Gravity gray -Terracotta Int. what other ones are not showing up I don't know. Don't look at me as a naysayer. Only someone that is trying to help. There is a problem. If someone does not point it out it can not be fixed. They do not scrape the same. If it stays unreliable It will fail and I don't want to see that . Your welcome!

I wrote this 2 1/2 years ago. Other than the current transfer to another person hosting it, it is still accurate. Read the conclusion
