• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Have anyone else experienced false blind spot warnings in heavy rain?

I was driving on the freeway at night in heavy rain, and when I put on my blinker to change lanes, the alarm sound went off and the blind spot occupied indicator was lit up, but there was no car in that lane. It really threw me off and I had to really triple check my blind spot (dark and rainy) before I dared move over. Several more times on that trip the blind spot indicators for both sides would light up intermittently when there was no car next to me.

I've had the car a month, this was the first time I had experienced this. I hope this isn't a common thing, because I live in the PNW - it rains a lot.

Also, side-note, the surround view, blind spot, and backup cameras are borderline worthless in heavy rain. It's like they put the camera in a low spot where the condensation collects right over the lens before it drips. These are all great features - when they work - but they are pretty marginal in the rain.

Please share your thoughts or if you have experienced the false blind spot warning.

Have never experienced false alarms for blind spot when signaling. It also rains a lot in New England, but maybe not the heavy rain as PNW gets.

I agree about the surround view cameras being obstructed by water droplets when it rains as well.

I posted some the section of the manual for BCA in another thread. There are some conditions that would prevent the blind spot radars from working correctly, like having a trailer, accessories that obstruct the bumper. Heavy rain is mentioned as well.

It happened to me last night in a heavy snowfall - Only one on the road and the mirror and HUD flashed for a split second that someone was on my left.

Yeah, it happened repeatedly to either side and the blind-spot warning indicators would stay lit for what felt like a good 10 seconds. During two instances on that drive, both sides were lit up simultaneously and there was no one on either side of me.

At that point it's way more distracting than it is helpful. Especially when things are already a little tense with puddles of standing water on the freeway on a dark rainy night.
