I had a couple of issues pending. Also I'm overdue for two recalls and one a bit more serious issue. I'm happy to report (so far) that all went well with the dealer I purchased the vehicle from.
I needed the first dealership oil change. Albeit, it's actually the 5th one, I've done 4 already
I paid for a tire rotation.
I had both front "Door at belt" moldings (part that peels away at the bottom of the door windows) loose.
There's an open recall for the cruise control which, is really part of of the ADAS system.
Last, but not least, is I had the ubiquitous differential clunk accelerating away from a stop and turning.
I went back to the dealer where I bought the car. I previously introduced myself to the service writer whom, luckily enough is a friend of a former client of mine from N.J. He's aware that I'm a former shop owner so... I won't break his balls and he won't feed me B/S.
I'm down for an oil change and tire rotation. Stating; "I do have to pay for something, I can't expect everything for free."
I speak with him during the day after they try to sell me (very common, BTW) a new air and cabin filter. Of which I deny.
They change the oil, rotate the tires, replace all 4 door at belt moldings, reflash & recalibrate the cruise logic (fancy name for the ADAS software) ((ADAS= Automatic Driver Assist System)) and replace the rear coupler. The later, owing, to a bang, bang, bang noise on acceleration when hot from a dead stop and turning.
(I'll do a separate post on the coupler in the appropriate section)
All done in a day's time!
The best part is, the total for today's work was a whopping $28.
Oil change was free, owing to the first one being included. Tire rotation was $25 plus tax. The (all 4) door at belt moldings were free. the ADAS reprogramming and calibration run was free. Also the rear differential coupler was under warranty.
All in all a VG day. Now my wife understands (just maybe???) why I took her Beemer away and put us both into Asian cars.
I have to give out Props to Chris Golos at Sunset Kia of Sarasota and the team for doing the right thing, handling it professionally and all without fanfare.
They did try to sell me a cabin and engine filter albeit, Chris knew that that was something this retired shop owner would deny.
