• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... So I change my Telly's oil for the first time last week. Since then, I traveled 400 miles. Changing oil and all the fluids for 30 years! but Telly's is a different animal--oil filter has a housing and it's plastic, for one! Yikes! But I was looking forward to the task. Since I only have one jack (two but the other one is from my Honda Pilot and didn't fit the Telly's jacking plate), I used a stand placed next to the jack (see picture attached below) then Removed the jack to raise the other tire where the oil filter and pan are located. This gave me enough space to work (no creeper--I used an exercise mat to save space). Once the skid plate was remove, drain plug and oil filter housing were accessible. A tip about oil filter housing: I made a mark with sharpie aligning it with the filter housing's lip (where oil drip). This allow me to tighten the filter housing without torque wrench (see picture). Once I fully tightened it by aligning the mark to the filter housing lip, I gave it a little twist with the mark guiding me, I knew I will not make mistake of overtightening it. The oil collector is ok (it is 13 quarts capacity)--make sure you pull out the drain cover completely to eliminate oil spill since the cover hinders the oil from draining fast enough. Also open the spout to let air enter--this will speed up emptying of the oil. I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (I ordered 3-5 quarts and used 6.5 quarts), Kia oil filter and a 27 mm oil wrench socket (any 27 mm socket will do). Thanks.

So, btw, after changing the oil and oil filter at 1,700 miles, I measured the amount of oil that came out at only 6 quartz! If they filled it from the factory with 6.87 quartz, where the heck did the .87 quarts go? Is this what others here meant when they reported "excessive oil consumption of Tellys? Some even reported 2 quarts down after only 4,000 miles and had to top it off to avoid problems! Thanks!

where the heck did the .87 quarts go?

Most likely stuck to all the internal components of the engine.
