• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I hardly ever have riders in the back seats of my car. However, living in WI, I usually toss in rubber floor mats to protect the factory carpets and factory carpeted floor mats. Anyway, I thought some option other than rubber might look nicer . So I bought 2 rubber-bottom carpet-topped outdoor mats and cut them to fit. I’m happy with the result. And you can't beat $12 for both...

Agreed - where? I even like the pattern... got WeatherTech for front and 2nd - but 3rd will be rarely used, this is perfect

Great idea. Where did you buy the mats?
Got them at the local big box hardware store - Menard's (like a Home Depot)

Looks great!

Got the same mats over the weekend... thanks for the tip... now hoping I can cut them to fit as nicely as you did...

Also picked up a generic, trim-able, rubber cargo mat for $20 that solves my issue with the '3rd row folded down most of the time, but not always'... originally bought the WeatherTech behind 2nd row cargo liner - was great - if you never intend to use the third row... so got the behind 3rd row WeatherTech - but that left the folded 3rd row uncovered.

This $20 (less 11%) solution will end up fitting perfect (once I carefully trim it ), and can be easily rolled up and stowed in the underfloor compartment when the 3rd row is up...

Menard's SKU 261-7167 - or google the UPC 077341136408...

I highly recommend these. I got the 3 rows covered with tough pro and have had them for about 5k miles with a 2 year old that loves to throw his bottle and spill snacks. For $100 you can not go wrong and I actually like the honeycomb appearance.

How would you compare with the weathertechs if you have ever used them (I had them on a previous vehicle and they worked well) will this work about the same? I am wondering about getting the weather techs just for the front and then like the 2nd and 3rd row from these to kinda maximize value. Would you say these do just as well in the front and I should jsut get them all?

Also how flexible are they? If I get the cargo mat one, would it roll up for when I want to use the 3rd row? THe weathertech is not flexible at all from my understanding, which makes it a no go for the cargo mat side.

Final edit: Any smell?

I have had the ToughPro mats in all 3 rows and the rear cargo area for 6 months now. They are great. Haven't had Weather Techs before but they are obviously expensive in comparison and many say they can be slippery. ToughPro mats are not slippery at all under my foot while driving. I think the ToughPro mat for the cargo area is especially great to have because you can roll the mat up halfway if you need to use the third row seats. Can't change up the rear seat configuration if you're away from home with the Weather Tech or most any other custom-fit mat of that type.

I haven't had the Tough Pro mats... but looking at the pics, I'd agree they'd be great for 2nd & 3rd row and cargo for the reasons mentioned... from my earlier posts, you can see I agree the WT behind row 2 version is not user friendly.

I disagree regarding the front... driver's side is obviously used all the time and the WT tray style design is worth the extra $$$ to keep melting snow contained. I do not find it slippery at all, even in stocking feet...

But, as with most things like this - everyone has their own comfort level on $$$ to spend and opinion on what works best for them... there really is no right or wrong...

I would agree that if you don't find the Weather Tech's slippery, it comes down to how much you want to spend. FWIW, the dimensional honeycomb design of the ToughPro keeps liquids from spilling over the edges of the mat. They are definitely deep enough to contain some melted snow from your feet.

I posted somewhere on this forum that I used my weather tech mats 1st & 2nd row, along with cargo mat from my traded in '16 Sorento EX. Luckily they fit very well. Then with the 2nd row down I bought an $18 diamond patterned mat at Home Depot which gives total coverage, this mat easily slide under the cargo mat when you want the 2nd row in the up position.
