Forbes article on car brands reliability

I have read a lot of prior reliability reports showing Kia is in Top 10 of reliable brands. Yesterday Forbes published an article with Statista ranking showing Kia far from Top 10 on reliability. Are all these rankings really pay to play at this point? I see a lot of forum members that are happy but of course there are quite a few who struggle with Telluride problems.

Numbers can be manipulated to suit anybody's needs. If you go to the Consumer Report's page(source), it does state why Kia dropped in rankings.

A few manufacturers saw large drops. Kia introduced a new continuously variable transmission in two of its models, the Forte and Soul, that turned out to have significant problems.

If you go to any car group page, you will see more problems than praises. That is the nature of the pages. Take everything with grain of salt.

Tbh some of the problems I've seen on here are self inflicted. People didn't read the manual or fine print. Or have never bought a new car before let alone a car that's in it first generation. LoL I wonder what would some of our members do if they bought a Dodge, BMW or a Ford and had to deal with initial issues. They'd probably faint. You should check out some of the new Ford Explorer threads. The Telly has a good reliable transmission and the new Atkinson GDI engines should be good in theory. (can't believe I said that. I used to want to barf everytime I heard GDI) But it seems that these should be good Kia has come a long way in their engineering.
