• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My front right axle broke. I went to the dealership on to get a oil change and tire rotated. I have a Telluride SX 2021. They informed me that my front right Axle is broke and that I need to take it back to Kia dealership because it's under warranty so that I can get it fixed. I call Koons Kia dealership and they ask me how did it happen, I told them that I don't know maybe it was wear and tear of having my truck. (I'm not an car or truck Expert) So now I'm just waiting on the results from their Inspection that they're doing on Monday. I wonder if anyone else is going through this?

We had our MY21 Telluride SX at the dealer for service two days ago - they told me that the front right axle is leaking - they ordered the part supposed to be here in 3 to 5 days for replacement of the entire right front axle - all under warranty no questions.

Wow, that sounds like a recall to me. Koons Kia fixed the truck, and I did not have to pay for anything. At first, they told me that I would have to pay for the diagnostic service. I'm just going sit back and wait for the recall of the axle to come in.

I have a 22 Kia Telluride S front axle broke, called Kia to fix it because it’s still under warranty. The girl was rude and told me they can’t get me in for 2 months and they don’t offer loaner vehicles. I said what am I to do, if I drive it and have an accident couldn’t y’all be liable as y’all can’t even diagnose for two months she stated no bc I told you to drop it off until your appt in two months. I hung up. So now I’m trying to find the part so my mechanic can fix it because he can’t find an axle. I’m beyond mad and will never buy a kia again!

My 2022 Telluride SX broke down. Upon towing to dealer, they told me diagnostics was 5-7 days then repair will be more depending on cause and availability of parts. No loaner available and told me to rent car and submit reimbursement to KIA along with tow fee. I had 35019 miles so warranty covered axle but the grease that splattered under the hood (while trying to maneuver an immobile vehicle off a busy roadway and caused a severe burning rubber smell) was an “incidental” occurrence not payable under the warranty and I had to pay $450 to de-grease the vehicle for me to pick up. Did submit reimbursement and now KIA HQ is asking for detailed repair receipt, which Ed Voyles KIA has not provided after requesting it over 24 hours ago. Customer service at the local dealers has been horrendous and hoping KIA HQ will do right by me and buy back my car.

My 2022 Telluride's front right axle broke while making u-turn at 35019 miles. Dealer replaced axle under warranty but the engine oil that splattered under the hood was causing smoke and making a noxious chemical burning smell that still lingers, even after two "pressure washes", the first of which I had to pay $450 for out of pocket that the warranty did not cover. Does not feel safe to drive and trying to see if I need to sell and get another car that is NOT a Kia

You’re Lucky
My 2020 Telluride S 1300.00 to repair busted boot on front right axle
95k miles
🤷🏽‍♂️

they told me the extended warranty I purchased might cover this repair... we will find out... cost for part is in the $700's and labor $400's.

Having the same issue on my 2020 Kia telluride under 75k miles, warranty won’t cover and Kia dealership charging 1300. Grease is everywhere. This should not be happening and seems like a manufacturer issue.

I have a 2021 Telluride with 70,000 miles and my right front axle broke causing grease to spread and smelled like an electrical fire. They said not under warranty. $1200 to repair.

I have the same issue on my 2020 EX. Warranty company will not do anything about it. They said that warranty will not cover wear and tear. Dealer quoted me $1300 for parts and labor.

Is the axle breaking or is the rubber boot failing?

I questioned kia dealer about this diagnose and they essentially told me is the boot that holds the grease that failed. I told them to just replace the boot but of course they can't and instead have to replace with new axle. I am diy'ng

It's extremely rare for a drive axle to "break". To infer that (not calling anyone out here) the axle is now in two pieces. For if it were in two pieces, it's very doubtful the vehicle would move at all, unless you locked up the center differential.

What does happen ALL the time is that the outer Constant Velocity joint boot (CV) tears from wear. Then the next phase is the all of the CV grease (very nasty slippery stuff) starts slinging out from centrifugal rotation. Then road dirt, sand and cigarette buts (yes I've seen them in there) become the lubrication. Then the joint is noisy (you had to have at least heard it make some noise) and all that's left is the cage, some very worn balls and a lot of slop/noise.

Tis is NOTHING new folks. Front axle boots/axles have been failing since the advent of front wheel drive.
The real trick is to inspect the vehicle regularly, spot the issue while there's still a lot of good grease left. Then a new boot/grease can solve the issue. Provided your shop or dealer will perform such.
Many don't for liability and/or comeback issues.

2020 telluride sx AWD right front started shaking really bad, took it to dealer and they told me it was my right front axle as well. This definitely seems like it should be a recall!!

My right front axle boot on the engine side ripped. Dealership replaced it under warranty since is part of the 10yr 100k mile warranty
