In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Front Runner Slimline 2 Platform Roof Rack (Prototype)

What awning did you get?

Also, FrontRunner has some Thule adapters i dont know if those will work with your Thule box.
I ended up just grabbing the $100 Maxi Trac awning from Napa. I couldn't justify a more expensive awning with how often I'll be using it. Unfortunately the thule adapters from what I can tell are to fit thule bars to the rack. Pretty much all of my thule accessories work with the slimline rack, in some cases I had to grab longer bolts.

With the overhang from the thule cargo box theres no way for it to sit flat, kinda wish I went with a Yakima, but I got a good deal on the Thule years ago.

And thanks for sharing about the full size spare. I wasn't sure if a larger tire would still fit under the telluride.

Anytime!

I still use my RiGd Supply hitch carrier when overlanding to give me the ground clearance bur for daily driving and road trips I leave it under.

Anyone have their spare tire on top of the new FrontRunner rack? Would love to see a pic if you do. Seems like a good option as the bottom donut costs you ground clearance and the rear mounted is so pricey. I'm just not sure if there would still be room for other accessories, as I'd still like to get a few jerry cans / propane tank and wolf packs up there as well.

It would be really cool if FrontRunner had a "design your roof" section where you could add and slide around your accessories on their web page, kinda like how you set up shelves and cupboards on Ikea!

The rear donut sit higher than the rear suspension so if your going to hit anything it would be that first of the muffler of your exhaust.

Are you looking to run a full-size spare? How many inches? I have a 31” spare mounted under where the donut used to be.

I believe the front runner rack is about 49” x 70” use that and then figure out how big in diameter you are going to get as your spare. Just like a middle school geometry word problem.

It looks like I'm missing an instruction booklet as well. Did you all put the footbase pieces on the very ends and in the middle rail? And then 2 spacers for the back set, 1 for the middle and none for the front?

Thanks!

Hey everyone, just got my delivery and need a hand! I dont know if im missing a booklet or what but there is no mention of these spacers anywhere.
Should I put the foot base pairs on the two very end pieces and then the last pair on the middle rail? Secondly, should I use 2 spacers for the rear, 1 spacer for the middle and then no spacers in the font?

Thanks for any help.

For foot grabs, you're right.
You should put 2 spacers for the rear, 1 for the front, no spacers in the middle.

I have I set of spacers in the front, none in the middle and 2 sets in the back.

I dont know how many spacers come in the kit but basically just play around with them so the rack sits level on the roof.

How much MPG are you guys getting with this rack?
Got 18~20 in the city, which is normal I guess.
But struggling to get good MPG in the highway cruising at 70~75MPH.
21.5 was the best I could get so far.
Yesterday it was cold and very windy.
After 350 miles trip on the highway without carrying anything on the rack, I even got 17 mpg. 😭PXL_20211101_163616049.PORTRAIT.webpPXL_20211104_202608187.webp

I think I am getting around that but I also have a larger wheel and tires setup too. I don’t daily drive my Telluride it’s mostly a weekend or camping truck.

It also could be the stuff you have on top. That Yeti cooler isn’t every aerodynamic.

With those stuff on the rack, I got over 19 mpg.
But didn't carry anything yesterday.
I think the wind speed is a big deal.

Ya not sure. I’ll have to check mine. When I go I’m fully packed up with a RTT.

Check you’re tire pressure too.

I'm probably getting around the same in the city, but on long highway drives get around 24-26 mpg. I even hit 28mpg once with perfect conditions. This is with the stock 20" SX tires. PXL_20210820_213454818 - Copy.webp

added their Easy Out Awning on a Moveable Arm 498FF81D-5C40-491A-AF13-CE31C2D2E67A.jpeg

Is that the 1.5, the 2 or the 2.5M? Any quick thoughts so far?
I got the 2m. Anything larger would look weird m. It unfolds out to a 6.5ft x 6.5ft square or shaded space.

So far we love it especially the moveable arm. I did t want to get 180 or 270 awning since they pack down to thick still. Most of the time we go camping I really need the shade by the truck where my swing out is for cooking.

Are you running a lift and what size tires ?
