  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Front Skid Plate Availability

Here it is installed. Easy install and would have been faster than the 30 minutes it took if not working from a garage floor.
It is nice quality and should offer some extra protection but if not, eye candy.
Where is your aerodynamic skirt?
Stripped off? Or does telluride not have that?

It fits over the current plastic skirt. It does not add any additional coverage except strength.

I assume you had to take the under plastic skid protection off to bolt the metal one on? And with the plastic diffuser its still attached?

No, you remove 7 bolts. The kit comes with new stand-off bolts that replace the original bolts. The new bolts keep the plastic shroud attached and also allow the metal skid plate to mounted on top of the plastic shroud.

On your picture it looks like theres an opening still under the suv. Can you put the plastic piece back with the slide plate to fully cover the whole bottom of the suv?

That part of the engine is not covered from the factory. I did not remove any plastic piece from the car to add this. It fits over the existing plastic.

When you removed the bolts from the plastic cover, did it just fall down, or is it held up by a few clips? Just wondering about the pattern you used to remove the old bolts and install the new ones.

No, the plastic pieces are held up by other bolts.

One more question, how is the access to the oil filter and drain plug? Do you have to remove the skid plate?

Can't answer that question since I have not changed the oil yet. It basically covers the plastic that is already there so if that doesn't need to come off, then I doubt the skid plate does either.

From the pictures and YouTube videos I've seen the plate and belly pan are in the way and need to be removed. Please ignore one thing in this video. He says to fill the oil only half way up the dip stick. This is wrong, because if you do that the oil level will be 1/2 quart low. Fill it up to the top mark. If you go slightly over, don't worry, it won't hurt anything.

Since it’s been a year since you got the skid plate, was it worth the purchase? Has it provided any further coverage aside from strength?
