so how does this spare tire get pulled up? does the centercap come off??

i dont think so. i put my flat tire in there after changing. a block in the wheel well seems to be hitting. it fits but its crooked. when i get home i will investigate further. traveling now.

So a 20" spare from the SX will fit?

Rim size shouldn't matter as they all go up from the same spot. The overall diameter and width of the tire are what you need to worry about.

I can confirm the OEM 20" tire (P245/50R20) will fit. Been driving around for a while with the full size.
Sorry I'm late to this conversation. I have a newer 2022 Telluride, and just hot around to looking at a fill sized spare. There is about 11k miles on the 4 tires that have been rotated once. Is that too late to go to a 5 tire rotation, treadwise?

None that I'm aware of. I might have bumped it once when i went off a steep driveway into the street, but i was going too fast. However I couldn't find any damage when i checked later.

Also, was this off the steep driveway in reverse onto the street, or moving forward in drive?

Moving forward in drive. The curb is kinda high/steep so it wasn't much of a surprise.

I was thinking of maybe not quite full size. Perhaps 225\60 so wouldn't hang as low, but that would result in a 2 inch smaller diameter. Would that damage anything?

There is a picture of a full-sized tire right here in this post. That tire is a 245 mm width, identical to the stock 18” and 20” tires.

5 tire rotation is not necessary in my opinion. Stick with the tried and true 4 tire rotation.

I did my full size spare upgrade. The fit is a lot tighter than I expected down there. On the side where the tow and the wiring harness is, there is plenty of space but it's towards the rear suspension area that has me a little worried. With the donut there there is about a finger and a half space from that bolt/nut. With the full size it's about a finger space up to the 1st knuckle. I don't think it should be an issue but let me know your thoughts.

My '22 came with a full-size spare, 20" wheels, I believe the dealer upgraded it. So this should work.

Can you post pics showing how low it hangs? I'm concerned about departure angle.

So far I haven't' hit anything going up driveways. Even one that sets off the rear sensors when backing out of it. I measured it and it's a little over 10 inches from the edge of the wheel closer to the bumper and between 7 and 8 inches from the edge of the wheel towards the front.

I recently completed a full size spare upgrade on my ‘23 S. This thread was very helpful. Instead of purchasing an OEM wheel, I went the cheapest route I could and bought a steel wheel (p/n sw60-8765b40) and a 245/60R18 used tire. The wheel was $87 delivered. The tire was $30 from a used tire shop, and it was $20 to mount and balance...$137 total. We plan to tow if Kia ever releases the ‘23 tow harness and this upgrade is essential.
