Hello all,

After much deliberation, I have decided to cease hosting and running failcat.com. As of April 1st, 2023 I will be shutting down the service. I just don't have the time nor interest in maintaining the website any longer.

I believe I can speak for @foresterh, @Michelw and @mitchkramez when I say we sincerely appreciate every single donation that has come through throughout the past couple years and was put into good use keeping the website running.

This is an open call to anyone that wishes to keep the flame alive. I am happy to share the site with anyone who wants to take a stab at running it going forward. If you are interested, please feel free to reach out. Ideally you'll want to be able to be able to run a flask instance, be able to maintain python and js, have a postgreSQL instance, as well as have your own domain, so self hosting might be the most straight forward.

Wow - so sorry to hear that but totally understand. You folks have been wonderful and it's been a privilege to have this information at our fingertips. Hopefully someone will take the torch. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that has been involved. Failcat has been such a great resource to me (and I'm sure everyone else) as I started my journey on 4/21/22 to get my first Telluride. The journey is almost complete as my dealer received my car two days ago! I downloaded the data from failcat on my dealer each month to calculate the approximate time my Telluride would arrive. Failcat did not disappoint! All the best to the failcat team!!!

Very sad to see it go. What you built was a first and one of a kind service that has been beyond fantastic. For once, us peasants had a way to track the progress of our vehicles without having to deal with the way most dealer reps treat customers.

Question, how does the website collect the data? Manually (you have no time) or is it done automatically where it collects and aggregates everything from all the sources?

Secondly, instead of just pulling the plug, you could have shopped it around and sell it for MULTI-MILLIONS!

Definitely sad to see this go... Is the site currently hosted in such a way where perhaps I could just take over payments? Or does it need to be moved to a new server. Direct message me if you like, or respond here. I'd like to see Failcat live on... Otherwise, thank you for all the time and effort that went into it...

i think the real hard part is the data stream. someone with access to that information needs to be a maintainer. if someone could provide me that information i could very easily recreate failcat
