• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Picking my Telluride up tomorrow! Curious what gas mileage you all are actually getting versus what’s on the window sticker. If AWD, what mode are you driving in? Thanks!

I have an AWD and our trip to Florida was a little over 26.. our local 50/50 driving getting between 20 and 21.. Comfort mode

I just did a 3,800 mile trip. About 2,800 high speed highway. Averaged 25.7 for the whole trip.

I have put 1300 miles on my AWD so far and the average shows 23 mpg. It's a mixture of both local and highway driving for us.
I have read on another post here that some people have been getting better mileage after the vehicle "breaks" in after a few thousand miles.
Hope that helps.

Edit:
Forgot to mention that we use Eco Mode.Sorry about that

I have a AWD. Drive a lot, 150 miles per day with majority of it on the highway. Average is 23 mpg. I drive on smart mode.

I have a little over 9k miles since the beginning of Sept. Its been about 50:50 city/highway driving with 2 roadtrips and averaging 24.4mpg, higher than I expected. Mostly on smart mode.

Just finished 2500 mile road trip. Averaged 27.2 in Eco mode AWD. 2/3 was highway. This is according to the onboard computer. How accurate have people found that to be?

AWD. 23.3 mpg over 7500 miles. Mix of city and highway driving. Using smart mode.
Don't be disappointed even if you will see less mpg. It really depends on the road and traffic conditions.
Sometimes, I use it for commute. 29 to 34 mpg going to work, but only 17 to 22 mpg coming back home though taking same roads.

I have less then 2000 miles. The over all maths, I got just a tick over 24 total. city is between 17 and 22, depending if it is actually moving or just slow moving parking. I have got 30 in one trip on the highway, but the average seems to be about 26. All in comfort mode and with snow tires.

Honestly doing better then the epa label, but of course your driving behaviors will effect the gas mileage.

Think the screen that shows “accumulated data” is best. I am at 22.3 mpg. Sport mode, 80+ on the hwy, warming up car on cold days...ymmv.

SX-P with AWD, mostly stays in comfort mode. Currently at 4400 miles. Accumulated data shows 21.7

I just left my dealer with ZERO help. I have 900 miles and AWD and my accumulated Fuel economy is 17. Many trips I’m getting 15 -16 and I’m only driving in ECO mode because the gas mileage is so poor. They just told me “the computer says the car is fine”. I’m basically a soccer mom transporting kids around and not driving aggressively. I almost went with a Honda Pilot and am going to be really disappointed if in sluggish ECO mode- I’m averaging 16.5 mpg. Just terrible.

What state are you in? I see that you have 900 miles under your belt so your driving has been mostly winter. I'm in Vermont and I'm getting about 16.5 as of January. You will see noticeable increase in mpg as gas stations switch from their winter blend to summer blend. Here's my fuelly monthly mpg showing increase and decrease in mpg. Fuelly reported lifetime mpg is ~22 as of Apr'19.

EDIT: FYI, my mpg is mostly city except in June.

I have just under 14,000 miles on my AWD EX model. I drive mostly highway and keep it in ECO the majority of time. I figure my mpgs by hand, as I have found the onboard computer to read about .8 - 1 over actual.

35 fill ups
28.0 lifetime mpg
29.4 mpg best tank (July)
24.6 mpg lowest tank

I track my mpgs in fuelly.com

This mileage is not out of line for relatively low speed driving in urban/surburban settings. Each driver’s ”city” driving is different. The only way to really know if the car is at fault is to drive it on highway at moderate speeds over a tank or two - this reduces the variables. If this number doesn’t get near highway rating, then car may have a problem.

(I have an LX AWD)

Doing only highway i get 25-26
My typical rural/light city driving averages 21-22
I'm at 21 avg lifetime (4300 miles)

So far this is mostly winter driving (michigan) so I have no idea why anyone would be getting 16

FWD or AWD? Also, I live at the bottom of a very steep hill and my daily commute to work, etc. involves driving over hilly terrains in my short 9mi commute. Hilly terrains could be another factor that drivers of Michigan or Missouri may not have to deal with day in and day out. Also, you will see my graph being above 20mpg in NOV and w.c. 16-17mpg in JAN. Hope that starts to improve over FEB and MAR.

Regardless of AWD or FWD, if mainly driving on major highways at 70-80 MPH, isn't the transmission using the same gear ratio so fuel use at those speeds shouldn't matter whether in Comfort, Smart, or ECO mode?

The AWD hardware is heavier than FWD, so that has a negative impact on fuel economy.
