Gasoline choice

Hello. Owner of a new 2021 Gravity Gray SX Nightfall Prestige with towing package. Really loving it so far.

I have a question about which octane to use. I know the manual says 87 is recommended. I use Costco gasoline so it is Top Tier. Is there any advantages to use the highest octane choice or am I just wasting 30 cents a gallon? Thanks in advance.

No benefit on this engine. Stick to 87 all the time. Putting lower octane in an engine that requires higher is a problem but this engine is designed for 87.

Like NCTelly said there is no advantages to running a higher octane gas. Just wasting your money. Anybody saying differently doesn’t know what they are talking about.

I use Costco also (which, by the way, is only 86 octane here in Albuquerque). It is Top Teir gas, however. Am I concerned that it's only 86 and not 87? Nope. I had used Costco gas in my Hyundai Santa Fe for years with no issues at all. And by the way, I don't know if the gas has anything to do with it, but I've been averaging between 25-26 MPG with a fair mix of hiway and city driving.

Octane ratings are measures of fuel stability. These ratings are based on the pressure at which a fuel will spontaneously combust (auto-ignite) in a testing engine. The higher an octane number, the more stable the fuel.
