Greetings from a potential new Telluride owner

Greetings all.
I hope to take delivery of a 2022 Telluride to replace my aging XC-90 V-8 Sport sometime before the end of the year. Given the present situation with respect to actually buying a new Telluride however, I thought that the use of "potential" is justified. If things go as planned, the Telluride will replace the Volvo as the tow vehicle for our T@B 320 camper, and will also be our transportation from PA to the [hopefully] snowy Wasatch during winter.

It's a 2008 and I'm not trading it in; I may sell it at some point, but only after getting a new car (which may or may not be a Telluride given the dealer shenanigans I've encountered).
The V-8 Sport version (Yamaha twin-cam 4.4 liter engine, the same one Ford put in the SHO Taurus) of the XC-90 is a great car in many ways: Roomy, quick (for a mid-size SUV ), with decent handling (Nivomat suspension), fantastic in the snow, tows our camper with ease, quiet, incredibly comfortable and with a Dynaudio sound system that is one of the best I've heard in an automobile. I get upwards of 25 mpg on the highway, dropping to 16 mpg or so with the trailer - on regular fuel.
I hoped to be able keep the Volvo until getting a "forever car", which hopefully will be the Rivian R1S. Unfortunately, that car is not likely to be delivered before 2024 in the configuration I need (with the 180kWh battery pack). I don't think my nearly 14 year old Volvo will make it that long, and the Telluride is intended to be the bridge to that point.

Since you're in Philadelphia area, contact Murray Kia or Sussman Kia. They both allow you to order at MSRP. They quote anywhere from 4-8 months, but it usually comes in quicker. I ordered in May and should have it in August.

I contacted Murray and their response was encouraging, a much better experience than the other Kia dealers. They told me that depending on configuration, they were confident they could get me a Telluride before the end of the year. Though I was leaning toward an SX, they said the odds for an earlier delivery were better for an EX, so that's what I went with. Specifically an AWD EX in Glacial White with a black interior and the Premium & Towing packages, at MSRP. It was a no-nonsense, no BS experience dealing with Murray - they deserve a big thumbs up.

It would be great if my experience replicated yours - did you order from Murray or Sussman?

Glad it worked for you. I also ordered from Murray, they get about twice the orders than Sussman gets - although both seemed very reasonable and both deal at MSRP even for out-of-staters. I think with your EX order, you will have it by October at the latest, if not sooner. Time to start playing around on failcat.com - sort by dealer (PA004), check their stats, watch for new VINs, etc.

I did some searching around on failcat and it looks like Murray has a monthly allotment of about 23 cars. It also doesn't look like they've put their order in for July yet. Based on what I saw elsewhere on this site, this is the week that KFOS opens for dealer orders, so I'll keep an eye out.

On a related topic, I'm happy to have a new Telluride in Dec so that I can get familiar with it and break it in (whatever that means these days in the modern car world) before heading west on extended ski trip to the Sierra Madre, the Spanish Peaks and the Wasatch. If it gets to me in November, I'll really have something to be thankful for but an October arrival would be a very pleasant surprise.

Great to hear @acehawk. I love the Dark Moss but Missus Yossarian does not, hence the Glacial White Pearl. When did you order yours if you don't mind me asking?

I ordered mine on May 19th and took possession July 7th. This car was not a custom order. I called the dealership and this one was coming in and I put a deposit on it to hold it.
