Yeah I’m coming from a X5 also and members have told me it’s unfair comparison. The X5 feels so planted on the ground with virtually no body roll on turns. But out of warranty, it becomes an expensive car to own. I know the Telluride will feel much slower and take longer to accelerate and brake. Hopefully more comfortable ride.I came from a 2014 BMW X5 (x35i M-Sport), and I can tell you the 2022 Telluride SX I have comes nowhere near the handling nor acceleration of the X5. The Telluride has significantly more body roll and understeer than the X5. That being said, the Telluride is overall a much more comfortable ride.
Definitely agree on the styling issue. I prefer the Palisade interior (full digital IP, paddle shift, push button gear selector to free up console space) but much prefer the Telluride exterior. Palisade looks like a car, like all the other 3-row crossovers these days-an urban/suburban vehicle. Telluride has a much more rugged, truck-like vibe with the styling. Granted, in practice the rough surface capability on both is about identical-and pretty minimal with no underbody protection. But that's not what I'm buying this for-not taking a $50k plus vehicle out in the nastys and bashing it up-gravel forest service roads is the worst I'll go on.View attachment 24925We test drove both (compared Palisade Calligraphy vs Telluride SX) and went with the SX. Both vehicles drive exceptionally well but overall handling and responsiveness felt better with the Tellurides (closer to the German brands). Personal styling preference was also a huge deciding factor. Here is a picture I took for a side by side compare.
Haha. This made me think about my old 4Runner when I was younger. There was a development going up close to my home and they had just cleared out the trees and left a bunch of dirt roads. So I ,of course, jumped on the opportunity to do my suburban off roading. Lots of cut up branches everywhere and wouldn't you know that my front wheel managed to kick one up at the exact angle that it wedged between the ground and the underbody of my car, right next to my feet. Nothing like seeing a large branch poking through your floor just missing your leg. Don't do that anymore.Definitely agree on the styling issue. Update: I rented a telluride base model with Turo app. Loved the way it drives! Both pally and Telly has nice engine sound and very punchy acceleration. With family of 6 I was easily able to drive 85mph without any fear and was blazing all the slopes of downtown San Francisco. I feel that Pally has a very quick steering and has a very slight edge in handling. Telluride has 4 stars in safety ratings and not a top iihs pick plus. But I love telluride German aesthetic better than pally.
