• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hardwiring led lights

Hello!
I bought a prestige x line 2024 telluride last month and I love it! I'm trying to do some aftermarket ambient lighting but have no experience hardwiring lights into a car. I've consulted a few local shops but so far nobody will install a product they don't sell me themselves, and nobody has similar products to sell me (which is crazy to me!).

I want to install the floorwell lights x 6, the led scuff plates x 4, and the interior door handle leds x 4 in the attached pictures. I couldn't post this thread with the links in the body so I just attached screenshots of the products.1000003500.webp

I want everything hardwired wired for a clean professional look. Does anyone have a good resource for step by step installation on things like this? I have done simple electric maintenance like outlet changes and I've hardwired a fan into our bathroom, so I think I'm capable, just need guidance.
I don't mind using alternative similar products if anyone has recommendations.
Or if this really is something I should leave for the professionals, any thoughts on where I can get these installed? I'm in the Indianapolis area.
Thanks for your help!
Joe

I've done similar things on other vehicles, in my safe, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. If I can do it, you can do it, just take your time and use common sense. Heat shrink and zip ties are mandatory IMO. To your project, is everything supposed to tie into the control box in the first picture? If so, find where you want or need that to be to tie into power, and work backwards from there. You'll most likely need to figure how you want to run the wires from one side to the other, you might have to pull out a seat or 2, maybe. There might also be some holes to drill and a little carpet cutting. This is my past experience with other vehicles and not to the Telluride specifically. And last, you might need to purchase extra wire so you don't come up short. Every "plug and play" lighting I've installed, I came up short on wire length every time. Just be sure to get the correct gauge (wire thickness) and you just match up the colors. It's not as complicated or difficult as it sounds, to do a nice clean install give yourself a solid day to complete your project and you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply! I think I can probably do it. I'll need to find a manual or online guide telling me how to take the door apart. I'll look for one but if anyone knows a good site please let me know!
Thanks again

Were you able to get them installed? Tell us about your experience. I’m curious about the wiring for the door sill plates. Since those are available as an option I wondered if the wiring was already in place.

How did your project go? I hope it went well and if you have pictures, please share.
