If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I ALWAYS lease but my limited research seems to indicate the Telly isn't a great lease candidate. I drive very few miles and am always way under (10,000+ under) I've leased vehicles for 20 years and worry I'll get that "bored" feeling a few years in which is always rectified by a new toy :)

Anyone lease? My cipherin tells me it might be less than $100 a month difference to lease?

Found the same. There are no deals to be had in leasing this car. Which is why I bought instead.

It's really odd - the residual should be up there in the Jeep Wrangler world and it should be a fantastic lease. They must be artificially keeping that down due to the supply chain issues. DICKS! :) I suppose I can just buy it, then move it in three but the lease game has always guaranteed I'd do well in that transaction. Thanks!

The residual is in line with the industry. But, there are no lease incentives right now to discount off MSRP and the money factor is high relative to the purchase rates. So, it doesn't make a good lease deal for the lessee. Great for finance company!

Here's some more detail.

Agreed. I leased one year ago and even though it was not a great lease then, it at least had a $2,360 lease incentive at the time for a 36-month lease. If there are no incentives currently, poor residuals and money factor, it’s an even worse car to lease now. You could lease cars with an MSRP $15k greater than the SXP (e.g., XC90) for the same amount or less. Of course, the concept of a good/bad lease assumes MSRP is an indicator of value across car brands and based on what people are paying for the Telluride, I'm not sure that is the case.

IMO leasing is not very smart.
It has always worked well for me since I only drive about 6,000 miles a year. I have no desire to "own" a car and always being under warranty was valuable to me. So, I'll buy this one, then trade it in about 3 years and start the entire process over. We're all renting cars, just comes down to how long we have em :) My Wolf Grey SXP comes in next month!

It's beyond smart as I can write it off fully. 💰
Kind of highlights why it’s never correct to make blanket statements. For someone who owns a business and qualifies based on usage, it is very likely the smarter decision to lease and write off some or all of the lease payments.

However, now that we established that there is at least one good reason to lease, I suppose you could argue that you would be smarter to lease a car which leases better (e.g., Volvo XC90) but this becomes an opinion of overall value regardless of the lease price and it’s not as easy a decision as it might seem.

I think it comes from the Dave Ramsey cult who don't realize Dave is wealthy due to them paying him money to tell them to be frugal :)
