• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I recently received an update on the Nav system which I am discovering included the items displayed on my HUD system. Previously when I approached a stop sign, the sign would show on my HUD. Since the update, no road signs display on my HUD. I do see a change in speed limit but that seems to be related to my GPS, not what the camera is viewing. I called the dealer and they stated that the camera has never displayed stop signs or any other signage. Really? I swear I used to see stop signs displayed when the camera detected the sign. Anyway, not a show stopper but it's crazy to lose features.

The road sign information comes from the Navi, not the camera to my knowledge. I’ve never seen a stop sign, only speed limit signs on the HUD.

I have a Mazda with HUD as well and it shows the stop sign image in the HUD area when you approach an intersection with a stop sign. I might just be remembering that scenario and thinking it was part of the HUD in my Telluride as well. Good to know that you have the same experience as me.

I came from a Mazda Cx-5 and now own the Telly. The Mazda included stop signs in the HUD but the Telly does not.

Kia uses a video camera complex slif. this complex is installed on Optima, shortages and mor. this complex reads road signs. there are restrictions on countries: all signs are either specific or disabled. Most likely they decided to disable it after the update. But this is not a problem if there is a scanner connecting the car to a computer with software, this function can be activated.

I believe that is exactly what happened. I can't say for absolute certain but when I got my Telluride in March 2019, I swear it showed the stop sign image in the HUD. I got an update to the Nav infotainment system late February 2020 and now those images are gone.

I've owned my Telluride for essentially the same timeframe as you. The Telluride system does not / will not perform actual traffic sign recognition. The speed limit and "school zone" signage is created from extracted data contained in the Nav database. (similar to Google and Apple maps) It's as simple as that. That is why you occasionally notice differences in speed limits in the car and on the actual roadside signs. Interesting exercise: Try placing some masking tape over the two cameras in the center of your windshield (SXP Trim..one is for Rain Sense..not sure which one) Turn off all lane follow / keep and cruise assist. Take a ride and see if the Speed Limit signs pop up in usual spots. Enjoy the ride... Meanwhile, a link to similar thread: Gps Nav

you are right, I did not know that there is a difference in the actual and displayed signs. This is one of the first systems that takes information from a navigation database. HU displays appeared a long time before the systems of restraint and recognition.

will not perform actual traffic sign recognition.
like a car only for the American market, maybe Kia did not put it in software. But most likely this function is in the brains of the car, since the camera on the windshield is the full-fledged complex SLIF. that can read road signs.

Nav database - generated traffic signs have been embedded in many automotive nav systems for a while. There are only 4 or 5 vendors that actually develop these systtems for the OEM and After automotive markets. (Bosch / NavTeq / Google / Apple / Microsoft, a few more mainstream one's I'm sure I've missed)

My 2012 Audi A7 Nav was based on Google maps and included auto generated speed limit signs back then. The key here is the richness of the data included in the database. Unfortunately, the DOT limits the functionality of these systems in the US. For example, in Europe some luxury brands link functions like turn signals and headlight brightness to automatically activate based on map data. (in this case, upcoming turns while under nav guidance and population density / road classification for headlight brightness.....cool $&*#) Now we're just starting to see Augmented Reality - based nav systems that overlay street view video into your nav screen so you can actually see what your destination environment looks like. (BMW, Audi / Bentley, MB, and yes.... Genesis GV80) The sad truth here is automotive firms may eventually sell ad space on these systems. Nothing comes free.

The ability to actually read / recognize traffic signs may or may not be dark content (deactivated) in the Telluride system. (will leave it up to you hackers to figure it out) However, I can almost guarantee the Telluride Nav SW is North American specific without this functionality. I can say from first hand experience that Audi has separate US and ROW (rest of world) software in their vehicles.

Watch this space,. The possibilities are limitless. However, it appears the rest of the world gets all the tech goodies for now. Here's a thread from the Stinger Forum spotlighting the US vs ROW issue:

Enjoy the ride

I have the same issue in my 2023 SXP. it happened after the last OTA update.
