If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hope all is well! Happy to be here. We recently bought a crashed Telluride. Salvaged. But she’s a beaut! (Besides the crashed part 😅). 2021 SX-P Ebony black with dune brown interior 😍🤤. It’s the newest car we’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. We considered financing but when all is said and done, a salvaged car just made more sense for us at the moment.

Love everything about this car! The features! The spaciousness! The look! Fired her up for the first time yesterday. Just beautiful! But there’s been a few hold ups. Mainly finding available parts. Part of the wiring harness for the distance sensor, and the steering wheel airbag.

Here to learn and share! Some pictures I’ve included are from when we first bought it, and some newer pictures after stripping it, after replacing parts, headlights, etc.

Please excuse my yard. We don’t have a garage or shop. We make due with what’s available 🙂

Wow! This is definitely a twist on introductions! But, welcome! Looking forward to see the final product. I would imagine that parts are scarce. New model, loaded with safety features, and probably only 200K on the road.

WOW good luck with your project. I bet you will spend a fortune just to get all the replacement parts tho.

That a nice project for sure! Thanks for giving it another chance 😎. What did the car go for at auction 8k? 15?
Good for you!!! once you get it going, you'll have a Dream of a SUV.

Bought for 15k at auction including inspection. 🙂 then $1,200 to deliver it to our driveway. Definitely a fun project!

Thank you! I initially thought it was going to be a fortune as well. But between inspections and a lot of time spent researching as well as talking to other professionals. It has been very doable! I’ll do another break down when all is said and done (in case any other unforeseen expenses arise)BUT as of now, we are waiting for one last part to arrive to start assembling!

Bought for 15k in auction including inspection.
(build sticker $49,175 MSRP)

Shipped for $1,200

And have already purchased all the parts (excluding steering wheel airbag) for just under 5k! We have one last package arriving in a few days which was ordered yesterday: the distance sensor wiring harness

So cool! Are you in the business of restoring vehicles, or is this a personal (or family) hobby?

It’s a family hobby! We needed a car with enough room for our growing family. With the used car market so high right now it made more sense to fix up a brand new car then to spend 15-20k on an older car with more miles.

Excellent! Are you painting it yourself? I am guessing the answer is, “of course”. LOL! But, I wanted to ask.

People in this thread have requested pics. I also would like to see interim pictures as you progress, on through to the finished product.

Not myself, my husband 🥰 He has over a decade of experience working in the autobody repair industry. He’s already painted the fenders, bumper, grill, and all the chrome pieces. I’m a sucker for a blacked out vehicle!

I have posted pictures with my intro post but will continue as I take more 🙂

Hello.we went the same route. The one I bought was Abit more damaged than yours. Parts shopping has been a story of it's own with everything being back ordered. Do you have pics of how you connected the bumper harness.
