Can you clarify which Silverstar bulbs you have experience with? I searched and found 3 variants of the 9005/HB3: Silverstar - High Performance, Silverstar - Ultra High Performance, and Silverstar zXe High Performance. I also saw a zXe GOLD option.

How bad are halogen headlights?

Not sure. I don't own the truck anymore. In fact they may have been a cheap knockoff bulb. I only installed them to match the HIDs in the Morimoto reflectors. The low beams in the Morimotos out performed the stock high beams.
I'll check my car file to see if I have the receipt.
