If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello, we have two Black Labs and like to take them with us in our Telluride. The challenge I have is there are times I want to park the car at store, run inside while locking the car with the engine and AC running. All the vehicle does is beep at me. Is there a way to override this feature? Thank you.

This was a previous discussion and the best solution I saw was leave your keys in the car and lock it with the extra fob in your pocket. Downside, of course, is having to carry both fobs out of the house with you, but it does solve the issue.

You can remote start the car using UVO after you exit the car, and set climate for dogs. It will run On remote start for 10 minutes. Just make sure you don’t have the backseat safety alert/alarm on or the dogs in backseat will set off the horn alarm.

There are ways to do this, but best not to lock the vehicle with dogs and it running. Better to not take the dogs with you when running errands.

The remote start may be the best option - but it will only run for 10 minutes - which isn't long, and it isn't fool proof - I've had it shut off sooner than 10 mins. Car is so quiet, it's hard to tell if it's actually running on outside. If the two key fob method works, that would be a good solution. I haven't tested that.

The other method I described in another forum topic a while back. Search a similar situation. You can roll down driver window, exit, lock vehicle on inside door panel, then auto up the window. But, if you do that, you can only open the car with the manual physical key - so you have to remove the little plastic cover on the driver door handle and unlock that way. But that is complicated.

How do you auto up the window from outside the car? I was just thinking this morning that would be a nice feature to have that if you hit the button to lock remotely and hold perhaps that it would close all the windows. My old 08 Honda Odyssey would auto open all the windows if you held the unlock button on the fob long enough but it wouldn't do the reverse to close them. Probably a safety feature so you didn't lock your kids or pets in the car and forget them?

I get kind of annoyed by getting gas now. I have always gotten out of the car with my credit card and keys, lock the doors, get gas, unlock, get back in and leave. I don't hold my purse while I get gas but I lock the doors because I don't want someone to grab my purse out of the driver seat while I'm obliviously pumping gas at the other side of the car. Now with not needing my keys to start or stop the car, just having them in my purse when I walk up, I rarely touch them. Last time I took it in for service and had to leave it at the dealership, we drove away in my husband's car and the tech had to call us to come back with the keys. I just rarely touch them now. Except for when I have to get gas. How silly and annoying it is to need to get my keys out to get gas! Oh, and you can't lock the doors until after you open that fuel filler door, which I forget every single time! Argh!

You have to roll down the driver window first, exit the vehicle, reach through and use door lock button, then roll the window back up while removing your arm. But that only works while car is running... not really good for getting gas. Yes, you just have to lock the doors after you open fuel tank... something to get used to.

Ok, I'm not that agile, I'd surely get my arm stuck and make a fool of myself. I was hoping it would be some sort of hit the button twice while snapping your fingers and blinking your left eye sort of thing to make it work. :)

Check your state laws … even this may be illegal as well. But be sure to turn of ROA (Rear Occupancy Alert) in the Driver's info screen behind the steering wheel.

The beep stops. Just leave it running and go inside with your key.

Be Careful - this summer a Police Dog died in the patrol car with A/C running ..when the car stalled ... and the temp inside got extreme ...

We travel with our dog a lot -- love to see some options to allow this more safely.

Don't try lowering the window, locking the car from inside then raising the window up. I tried that and I got locked out. In this case you need to use the physical key while removing the door handle, which is a hassle. I was able to unlock the car through the trunk and crawl inside to unlock the doors

I tried the same thing yesterday and then realized using the hard key in the front door is next to impossible as the door handle blocks the key entry. Couldn’t find anything in the manual to explain how. I used the app to unlock. Whew, close call. Yes, could have crawled through the trunk but the app was a better option.

I believe the app you are talking about isn't available for our market.

I'm positive this is explained and illustrated in the owners manual.

Yes it is! I know the manual is lengthy, but new owners should always take the time to read it back to back. Download the PDF from kia.com to your phone / tablet.

I tried this and I couldn't get it to work.

Yes If you have the remote app on your phone you can leave the car running and get out and then lock the car using the app and it stays running. But if you start the car with the remote and lock it then it only runs 5 minutes

I am late to this discussion, but I just got a new puppy and this issue is suddenly important. I have parked in a shady area and left it running and unlocked and dash-shopped. It worked, and while I know nobody can drive the car away while I have the fob, they can still get into my car. So today I tried all of the suggestions. The two key fob method didn’t work; the car wouldn’t lock. I didn’t try the open window/lock from door panel/race to remove arm; I was afraid of getting locked out or injuring myself. But what did work was the Kia Access App. Key fob was was outside of the car and the app locked it while the engine and a/c ran. The key fob would not unlock it, though; I had to use the app to unlock it, too. I’m thankful for this solution.
