  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Howdy!

A 2008 528xi will be replaced by the Telluride. From what I understand, haggling for a price closer to/below invoice is a laughable task when it comes to the Telluride? A "good deal" is snagging one at MSRP?

You are correct. MSRP is essentially the best deal you can get on a Telluride at this time. There are generally dealers in most areas willing to sell for MSRP, but it comes down to your urgency on needing the new vehicle as to whether you work with them or purchase from a non-local dealer. Obviously purchasing from a non-local dealer comes with other costs to consider (traveling to/from dealer or shipping the vehicle).

You generally see two approaches to snagging the vehicle you like.
  1. Placing a custom order with a dealer. Wait times vary, but assume 3-6 months depending on the waitlist of other orders in front of you and the volume of the dealer.
  2. Finding a vehicle with the options desired and placing a deposit on it if it is not already reserved by someone else.
Of course there is a chance of finding the vehicle you want on a dealer lot, but I'd guess that's the least common route for members of this forum since the Tellurides aren't lasting all that long on dealer lots.

Unfortunately, I need to get into a new vehicle this year, yet, and don't have the luxury of waiting for an ordered vehicle. Dealers around here (Midwest) are quoting 6-9 month lead times, and even then, that's not guaranteed (their words).

What part of the midwest? There's lots of dealers doing MSRP. Some with better doc fees than others.

Wisconsin, preferably. I've touched base with several dealers who have the config I want, but say that those are already spoken for. Other dealers, advertise cars that are on the way to them, but I can't put a deposit on them, because they have a first come first served policy. Quite frustrating.

Not too familiar with any dealers there, but if the Minneapolis area isn't too bad for you, then @Mweiland on this forum is a sales guy at Kia in Inver Grove Heights and they deal in MSRP with a doc fee of $125.

Looks like I may not have permission to direct message people or maybe it's because I'm on my phone.

@Mweiland, do you have the following vehicle available for purchase? Stock# 23587. I'm 4.5 hours away (WI) and have a 2008 BMW 528xi with 190k miles as a trade-in.

That vehicle is sold. Don’t have any SX available right now but will double check tomorrow
