If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Installed Proximity Door Lock/Unlock Module

I'm plenty late to the conversation here, but I just bought a 2024 Telluride EX X-line and this module won't work. Response below from Shark Racing:
"Sorry but our module will not work on the newer facelifted Telluride.

Well, it probably will work if we could have someone figure out the wiring, but the Telluride isn't sold in Korea so we are unable to figure out which wiring is correct. Kia changed the wiring slightly compared to the original Telluride."

Boooo!!!!!!! I was so needing this mod :(.

Can you please explain why you need this? Your new car already has proximity unlock and lock as long as you are carrying the key fob.

Hi,
There may be a terminology issue. What I'm wanting is walk-away-auto-lock and walk-up-auto-unlock. If I have the key fob with me, I want to be able to close the door and walk away from the car and I want it to automatically lock without me having to press any buttons on the car or the fob. This is important to me because I'd like the car to lock whether I remember to manually lock it or not. I never remember, because my 2016 civic has this feature. It's great and I've grown quite accustomed to it.

I do know that if I have the fob with me, I can push the button on the car door and it'll lock or unlock. But that's not what I'm looking for here. I posted the "update" because the thread led me to believe there was a fix, but unfortunately the previous fix doesn't work for the 2024 telluride.

Thanks for the explanation. You are correct, you can't do what you want with the '24 Telly (or probably any other year) without some kind of an aftermarket device. The closest you can get to automatic is there is a setting for the tailgate that when you walk away from the car, it will automatically close. Kind of neat but you have to be aware of it otherwise some people who are like helping you by still unloading groceries can get banged on the head. But that is not what you are after.
I can offer this --- my new Telly has randomly locked the car as I have exited and closed the door. I haven't really troubleshooted it or worried about it, but it has happened maybe 3-4 times in a couple of months. I haven't even looked for any "settings" on this. I figure it is a complicated door handle system.

If you ever diagnose that possible glitch and figure out that it's something all of us can have, please let me know! :)

We emailed the guy from Shark to ask about the 2024 Telluride walk-away auto-lock module and he said

"As I said, the module that we have will most likely work if wired correctly, but we have no way of figuring out the correct wiring, since there are no Tellurides in Korea. The one that we sell for the earlier Tellurides, a customer came to us offering to make an installation manual and I either gave him one for half price or free, I can't remember, in return for the manual."

Anyone interested in an experiment???? :D

Has anyone successfully gotten this working in a 2023/2024 model? I am unfortunately replacing a '22 that was just in an accident and would like to reinstall this in a 2024.

Need to read the 10-12 posts above yours, and you will see the answer is not yet.

Yes, I had read the posts above but was hoping to bump the thread back to some people's visibility and hopefully jog their memory to update if they had success. Maybe I'll try reaching out to Shark Racing and seeing if they can share how they determined the correct CANH and CANB wires on 20-22 models and see if that can be replicated without their specialized tools.

Thanks.

OK Good Luck, but the person directly above your first post mentioned they contacted them just 2 months ago and they were told...

Maybe you and @aec2910 or @2tellysquad get together to figure it out for everyone else.

I would love to see a working model in case I get a new model some day.

I can't mention again how much I love it that I installed this. I would be lost without this option.

Hi. I had to replace my battery and now the car no longer folds the mirrors when walking away. Is there a way to disable/enable this feature?

I found the answer.
You can disable and later enable the proximity locking and unlocking function using the following procedures. You can disable if the car is to go for repairs, or you are going to wash the car.

  • Dipswitch No1 OFF - disable/enable by short pressing trunk button 4 times.
  • Dipswitch No1 ON - disable by short pressing door unlock 4 times, and enable by short pressing door lock 4 times

Very nice feature. But it's only for the 2020-2022 Telluride. Any idea if this would work with the 2023 or 2024?

Ah, I see this note at the bottom of the page:
2023+ Telluride - we do not have the wiring diagram available for this application. If anyone would like to help us determine the wiring, please let me know.

Anyone have any luck installing this on a 2023 or 2024 Telluride? They list it as supported up to a 2022.

I Installed the proximity lock/unlock on my 22 Telly. Today I walked past a 23 or 24 Telly in a parking lot and the running lights came on, the mirrors unfolded and the drivers door unlocked. I wish I'd shot a video. It was not my car, I'd parked my other non Telly next to it. I loaded my car and walked the shopping cart back to the return. As I was walking back (key in purse) I saw the mirrors fold in and heard the clock of the door locking. I looked around and the owner was not in the car or approaching it. This is troubling me. Does it mean anyone with the sensor can unlock my car with their key?

Let's back up a moment: do Kia keyfobs activate the mirrors on all Telly's, even ones they cannot unlock?
I ask as I don't know, but I'd think a keyfob should only activate the mirrors on the vehicle they are paired with.

My friend also has a 2022 Telly, my fob has never caused her car to do anything at all. More worrisome, though, is the fact that the door to the car I walked by unlocked. I heard it. I know the sound. The fob should only unlock the door of the car it's paired with.

Agreed. But I'm curious what the keyfob unlocking the wrong car has to do with the Proximity Door Lock/Unlock Module thread here? How are the two related, just because you installed the Module in your Telly? You didn't modify your keyfob in any way, you just added that module. It seems like your reply should be a brand new post on a new topic.

Your point is taken. I merely posted here because it was the thread that I found which discussed the module. FWIW, I contacted the manufacturer of the module and asked them how this could happen. Should I get a response I will either start a new thread or just keep it to myself.
