• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020, LX, AWD, 70K miles. Instrument cluster (speedo, odometer, tach, etc) just went completely blank except for an airbag symbol telling me it’s not operational. So turn signal doesn’t work, no airbags, no idea how much gas I have, how fast I’m going…

The dealer is investigating, but says probably not covered by warranty. If they charge me for this shit I will go crazy. Between this and the rear differential issue, I think I am done with Kia. 💩
Update…fix is $1,000. Not covered.

What happened with your rear differential? Sounds like this issue should have been covered under warranty? Was it?

The problem with the 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty is that you've gone beyond the 60,000 miles. The 10 year/100,000 mile is just for the power train. You should have purchased an extended warranty on the basic.

I agree with that question. Rear differential, I would hope, falls under the power train warranty?

I’m sure they would’ve found a loophole.

I’ve owned many cars over the last 40 yrs…never needed the extended warranty before. Lesson learned.

Took it in…they claim they didn’t feel anything.

I will see what I can get for trade-in…no more Kias for me. Terrible service.

Did you try the reset pin in the dashboard. Use an opened paper clip. I had a similar issue

Well in my 80 years (driving 66 years), never have I seen warranty repair honored if that warranty has expired. Car manufacturers are not in the charity business. If you have any beeches at all, it is with the fact that KIA didn't have a 100,000 mile basic warrant.
Just for kicks - since you are ready to sh*tcan KIA, show me another car manufacturer's basic warranty that goes beyond that of KIA.

Conclusion? Should've bought that extended warranty and you wouldn't be so PO'd.

I agree with you. Extended warranties are nothing but money makers for the car companies. Should not need. But a differential issue should most definitely be covered under the 10/100 power train warranty.

Different manufacturer but I had a rear diff issue with my truck several years ago and it was out of warranty as well. I reached out to the corporate office of the manufacturer and they covered it 100%. They were very helpful in finding a service dept that had an expert who frequently works on differentials. They also paid for my rental car while it was in the shop.

Quick update. Took almost 2 weeks to fix…dealer couldn’t figure out what mileage to put on new unit. I showed them the Kia Connect.
Anyway, car is fixed, but had enough of Kia. Loved this car for 3 yrs, but just sold it. Good news is that resale value was very nice. I’m out 😎
