• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Intake

😎

Doesn’t it come with one?
Comes with the standard large air box with replacement filter and this large plastic box attached behind the grill. I presumed the OP was talking about an aftermarket cold air intake that can be added. I know a few Toyota’s had a factory CAI option.

What exactly is one hoping to gain by putting an intake on a 2 ton SUV with 298hp? A 2 ton SUV with 300hp? If your fortunate. I have seen dyno test where intakes actually decreased hp from poor flow design. Taking your stock setup and then putting a K&N filter instead merely pulls all the hot air out of your engine bay.

The air is a lot warmer in that large clunky stock box that was only put in place to limit air flow. It doesn’t damage the engine, provides a more interesting throttle response and noise, slightly better gas mileage and a little more horsepower. Kia is restricted in what they have to do. I have no problem if someone buys a vehicle and wants to spend their own money to make it their own.

Agreed.

I also noticed that the K&N CAI implementation is also in a protected box with a much larger cone filter and still sourcing air from the same plastic channel that the Kia air box pulls from behind the grille. So you aren’t sucking it in from the engine bay. It’s basically letting the large naturally aspirated engine breathe even more so you get back a tiny bit of what is lost by not having a turbo.

I finally had mine installed today. The throttle response did seem more spirited and the sound was more vigorous.

Your so lucky, for some reason I can’t get my order.
