• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Who would pay that for a used telluride? even with dealer markup you can buy brand new for thousands less.

The bigger problem here is that the X5 is base, and the Telluride is a top of the line SX that has more features than the bimmer. You'd have to option it up by 25k to end up with a comparable set of features on the BMW. Plus, you'd pay for BMW parts and service other than oil changes (which are complimentary) - it's a lot. Are they still charging a monthly fee to use Android Auto for that money?

Honestly, even if this was a real situation, I might take the Telluride. But considering you can get a new one off the lot for under 60k and order for about 50k, it's a no brainer. I'm done with Germans...couldn't wait to get rid of my last one.

I have to say regardless of insane markups on the Telly, I still wouldn’t get a BMW, unless you plan to trade it off once out of warranty. German cars look nice as hell, but BMW in particular seems to have shit reliability.

I was close to getting an X5 before my Telluride. The starting msrp isn't anything close that you would want. Add another 20%

Sounds like an unsubstantiated claim right there. I had multiple SAVs in succession for almost a decade and NONE of them had any reliability problems, none. Practically problem free to be quite frank. The only problem I can think of and it may not even be a problem, was that they chew through performance tires and their ability to get curb rashes was insane.

Eh, one of my friends is a pretty prolific BMW buyer. He usually trades new models off before they get out of warranty. He seems to run into a lot of electronics issues with his. He usually goes with the I4s or 4 series.

Edit: Just so it doesn’t appear I’m talking out my ass: Why Is BMW So Popular If They Are Unreliable and Expensive?. That’s one of the articles.

Image. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, and perhaps a tier down, Audi, Volvo, Lexus, Jaguar, (Acura ?) This is my opinion! All have symbolism of success. I am still surprised at the amount of English made cars that appear in affluent parts of town despite their abysmal reliability. So their car isn't functioning, have them pick it up and leave a loaner. No bid deal. These drivers wouldn't be caught dead in a KIA. I am still catching flack from my daughter after giving up my years of BMW ownership (6 cars, 20 years) to own a dreaded South Korean vehicle.

A huge deciding factor would be used...

How many miles are on the used Telluride and would it come with an extended warranty and be certified ?

That used Telluride has a huge markup. I'd order a brand new one and wait for it to come in before I paid $10,000 over new MSRP for a used car.
