• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Interior Light Kit (Part# S9F55 AC000)

My dealer told me that the SX Telluride does not have the mood lighting as standard. He said that I have to get the light kit package to get any mood lighting at all. Is that true?

I can’t find any information online about what the light kit actually includes. Also does anyone have any pictures that show what the light kit and scuff plates look like.

If the mood lighting is standard on the SX trim then I probably will have them cancel it on the order I placed.
It's a $450 option

I guess we are talking about different things. My footwell lights are part of the mood lighting. I have a sx with prestige package and with the $450 ambient light package(not that I chose it but it was on the vehicle). Maybe the next step is to see if your dealership has a super technical expert. I was lucky that friendly KIA in new port Richey in Florida had such a person who was at the engineer level. Good luck to you
What trim level did you get? Did you get a good deal on your Telluride? I'm in Florida too and not 100% happy with the local dealership.

Hopefully this will help clear things up for everybody:

The SX does come standard with mood lighting. It consists of small strips on the dash and all of the doors. (See below). It is controlled through the infotainment screen. 64 colors are available and it is dimmable to your liking.

There is also available an accessory “Interior lighting” option for $450 that is completely separate and consists of lights in the front footwell and the cupholders. (See below). It can be cycled through 16 different colors and is controlled by a button placed in the small cubby just in front of the cupholders. If equipped, your vehicle comes with a handy small document to remind you how to operate it. It is not dimmable (it’s either on or off).

Any idea if the strips on the door and dash can be added to my EX?

Is this "mood lighting" option compatible with a '21 EX model? If so, what is the part number and how much $$ to purchase / install?

The interior light kit (cupholders/front footwells) is the only one that could be added to any model.

It was $450 as a PIO accessory. Price may vary from dealers or other sellers. You could install yourself or pay someone for their time.

Is there a setting in the mood lighting, either as the $450 add-on for cupholders/footwells, or the side strips, that automatically cycles through the colors as the music changes, or other time periods?

No. I do believe post-refresh cars can have the built-in ambient light (strips on dash and doors) be linked to drive mode, but that is all.
