• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Saw this video,
Is these protective screens really needed to protect the front of the Telluride?

Only of you are the unlucky few who had their AC condenser damaged on the road. There have been no recalls or technical service bulletins, so does not seem to affect the majority. Does not hurt to play it safe by installing added protection. Just like adding PPF to protect your paint.

Don't tailgate and you'll be fine. Anything going at you're condenser / radiator that's going to damage it isn't going to be deterred by the mesh this gentleman is installing with zip ties. Kia have some well paid engineers and I doubt they'd overlook such a blatant issue if it were a real threat.

No design flaw. Nearly ALL cars have their condensers, transmission coolers, or radiators exposed behind the grill. As previously stated, no flaw, just unlucky. And even with these, a rock smaller than the hole opening can still possibly puntuce what ever is exposed in front.

BTW I love the way the zip ties holding these on class up the front.

A flying rock (or rogue drone or Airbender spear, or whatever else you fear may pierce your radiator) is covered by your auto insurance Comprehensive (aka Other Than Collision) coverage. Your only cost whatever Comp deductible you carry.
But, IF I was gonna add screens, they'd be heavy duty and mounted BEHIND the existing grillwork so as to not destroy the look of my Telly's pretty face...
My two cents.

I agree with adding it BEHIND the front cover so as not to destroy the looks of the Telly.

How well can you clean it if you get leaves and gunk behind the front cover? Not being able to clean it easily would also destroy the look. "Hey man, nice smile! You have something in your teeth."

I have the plastic mesh installed behind my cover. No leaves stuck in the past year I’ve had it.

Did you have to remove the grille? I've got a 2021 that I want to install mesh behind the grille, but the removal and re-installation process seems more difficult and time consuming than it's worth. Thanks in advance!

No bumper removal necessary. Still holding up two years later.
