If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... This is a call to unite all Telluride shoppers who are sick of dealerships’ price gauging games!

Main Idea: if we collect “signatures” i.e. our home zip code, the out of state/region dealerships that we ordered the Tellurides from, and other necessary info, do you think we can convince KIA corporate to increase the car allotment to those specific dealerships?

This way we can accomplish the following –
  1. Receive our car in a much faster time frame, which will encourage more customers to purchase/order from those dealerships that are doing the right thing (If I can receive my car in 1-2 months, I’d rather wait and give those dealership my business than reward bad behavior) #AllAboutPrinciples
  2. Reward dealerships who don’t price gauge and actually putting customers first
  3. Open up the national market to bring this “supply and demand” back to equilibrium (currently supply and demand game is heavily favors dealerships)
KIA corporate will benefit from the following –
  1. Listen to your customer and satisfy their needs
  2. Shorter shipping route could decrease shipping cost and other logistic issues shipping nationwide (assuming/and it appears that most of the supply shortage are towards west coast). 2b – I read on FB page that KIA is currently have a large inventory build up but shipping was the bottleneck. This way it could help resolve this issue.

Just a quick thought after reading all the buyers fighting the good fight (don’t budge) and I’m sick of all California dealers and I don’t want to give them my business

p.s. KIA corporate – if you are reading this, can you please create a fake account and chime in the possibilities of this?

I don't think that'll help anything.

They obviously do not sell direct to consumers. At the end of the day KIA sells vehicles to the dealers. KIA spent decades developing their dealer network and relies on them to sell and maintain KIA vehicles. I don't think they will ship cars to other dealers to "punish" them for "price gouging". I doubt that they would want to jeopardize their dealer network investment and contractual obligations.

Also how about those people who have no problems paying over MSRP and patiently waiting for delivery? Why should they get punished for paying what the dealer is charging?

There have always been "price gouging" on high demand vehicles from all manufacturer dealers in the form of "Market Adjustments" or overpriced dealer added options. This is not a new phenomenon. For KIA dealers, the Telluride is probably the first time they've ever experienced such extraordinary demand. Who would have expected a 2-6 month wait list for a KIA? Heck, I didn't even consider a KIA until I saw the Telluride! I'm sure first time KIA buyers, like myself, are driving up that demand. Some dealers are taking advantage of the market situation and while others are not.

Do not waste time. KIA is increasing production due to demand. We probably wont see significant supply until 2021 model year and nobody really knows when those vehicles will go into production. KIA initially only wanted to build 40k first year for Telluride. I don't think they even thought it would take off like it has. But here we are and we will sell what we can get. It's been fun for us. We like getting to know everyone from all over the country. Just like with Stinger...We shipped a bunch of vehicles all over the place. Some of you still friends today. It's been awesome.

I hope you are successful. In my opinion you have few choices...Buy something else...pay the price....fly somewhere and pick one up in another state. Good luck!

No, your proposal doesn't hold water.

The Telluride is underpriced for the market place. The wise dealerships are doing the same thing they do when the vehicle is overpriced for market : adjusting the price accordingly. This is NOT price gouging.

Kia has contracts and operating agreements with its dealers that must be honored. That's just the facts.

Just boycott the dealers that are charging over MSRP and find another dealer. They will ship you the car. The dealers aren't forcing anyone to get their checkbook out. The consumer is agreeing to pay what their asking and the dealer is making profit like most businesses. Don't like it go somewhere else. But those dealers are just hurting themselves because they are going to lose customers and lose on people going there to service their vehicles. It all comes around in the end.

Look at some of the markups on the Supra
They are making a handful of these. Especially the 1st edition. Markups are nothing for this car. Our stores selling at sticker but 1st two already spoken for.
