• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey All, I just ordered an EX-P, Gravity Grey, Black Interior, Nightfall with towing package from the Orland Park Kia in Illinois at MSRP. Super excited for it to arrive...in 3-6 months...sigh...

I am fine with buying used cars and compared the Telluride to a used Q7, MDX, and QX60 at comparable price (under 50k) with under 45k miles during the process. All of those had some pretty major drawbacks from my perspective. I have two kids and drive with adults in the third row a few times per month so practicality is important but I do value luxury too. It was a balancing act.

I didn't find the Telly being compared to those too often so I listed some pros/cons from my POV below (there are more but this is what tipped the scale to the Telly):

2019 Audi Q7
Cons: infotainment was goofy, interior was super small, and really high expected maintenance costs.
Pros: The interior design gave a more luxury feel though.

2019 Acura MDX
Cons: not a fan of the front seats (it sounds minor but I have a TL currently that has similar seats and it gives me major back issues), interior was small, really dated interior
Pros: a little better interior design

2019 Infiniti QX60
Cons: loud road noise and technology was way inferior. The lane keep assist is basically a false marketing pitch, no applecar play, super dated (almost useless) navigation system, higher maintenance costs
Pros: better interior design, better front seats. Bigger interior than the Q7 and MDX - smaller than Telly but still big enough to be "acceptable" for my needs

Good luck on the wait for your car!

I came from an older MDX. I also shopped cars similar to your list. Nothing else wowed me enough to spend the additional dollars on. Now it's entirely possible that I drive like a senior (because I often carry 2 kids and their little friends) and that luxury appointments are mostly lost on me. Lol

The 2021 MDX with Advance package didn't offer enough performance oomph to justify the money difference over the Telluride. (The MDX Type S is interesting, but no turbos for me.) The MDX requires premium fuel. Insurance premium was more than the Telluride, but not a dealbreaker.

The 2021 Q7 Prestige was just okay on the test drive. Again, the dollar premium over the Telluride wasn't justified for me. When I looked at insurance premiums, the Q7 was nearly double that of the Telluride. It also requires premium fuel.

I agree.

The MDX was really dated prior to 2022 and I just can't do the bucket-like front seats. Then, 2022 was out of my price range so I didn't even bother.

On top of the price, the Q7's interior felt so small and the pop-up screen was so odd. I wasn't impressed
