  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just took ownership of the 2023 X Pro in gravity gray with a terra-cotta interior and loving the vehicle so far but share the same frustrations as the other owners regarding the unavailability of the tow hitch package and with the sales staff reporting that they too are in the dark and have no idea when an OEM kit will be available.

I live in South Florida and this is kind of the Wild West of driving habits as I also have a 2003 Sequoia with a hitch that has been rear-ended approximately four times so fortunately, the hitch has taken the brunt and there has been no damage to the vehicle which is another reason why I want to install a hitch on the back of the X Pro but I am very reluctant to go aftermarket not knowing whether doing so will impact the warrantee or whether the technician will even be able to install both the hitch and the wiring harness correctly. I am very reluctant to have anyone mess around with the electrical system particularly given the complexity of the technology in this vehicle.

Another question I have is that the X Pro trim level has enhanced engine cooling capabilities but I am unsure of what components have been added to the vehicle in order to upgrade that system and the manual does not seem to have any information regarding that topic.

Looking forward to some interesting conversation regarding our adventures with the X Pro.

Take care

Ken

If you need a hitch now or soon you have no other option but to be proactive and do it yourself. It is clear Kia is being noncommittal to when this issue will be rectified.

Totally agree but I wonder if any of the aftermarket companies have manufactured a hitch that is specifically designed to be installed on the 2023 models because the hitch designed for the 2020-2022 models won't fit.

Is that a fact? I'm speaking with no specific knowledge of the 23 but it is a mild refresh with nothing significant so the body and chassis should remain unchanged which the hitch attaches to. The hitch fascia panel was changed for the 22 but the same hitch works. Since KIA's woes were never with the hitch but the harness, I can't see how they would completely redesign it. There are plenty of lengthy post here about all the trials and tribulations new owners are going through. Go through a few pages and they will come up. If there is indeed a different hitch, I would put more faith in an aftermarket maker such as Curt coming up with it sooner then KIA. As for harness's, again, this is discussed ad nauseam in prior post.

KIA discontinued offering the tow hitch package due to a fire hazard with the harness pc board with it being exposed to the elements. What I don't understand in their quest to resolve the issue is why haven't they thought of an epoxy-sealed mil-spec type circuit board? Geez Louise!
