• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I just picked up my 2022 Telluride SX with prestige option. In the manual they say to record the "serial number" on the keyfob to make it easier to get a replacement. The printing on both my keyfobs is so poor that it is hard to tell the difference between some of the numbers. Is there a way to get this serial number from the car menus?

I think it is just the last 6 digits of the vehicle's VIN. Not sure. My vehicle's (picked up on 10/10/21) key fobs only had a printed sticker attached with the last 6 digits of the VIN. No other information was on it. The tag attached to the key fobs had the dealer's stock number, year, make, model, body, color, and the last 6 digits of the VIN. The tag was hand written but enclosed in a sealed plastic sleeve.

Open the fob as you would to change the battery. Use the mechanical key to pry apart the two plastic panels. Using the middle tab as leverage. The sticker on the inside contains all the info you need.

Doesn’t look like there is a way to look up paired remote fob info on the latest (apr 2021) release of the head unit software in the car, from what I could see.

The numbers on the sticker are usually last 6 digit of the VIN so need to save that.
There should be another tag that should have come with your keys. Mine was a plastic tag along with instructions to save.

That ‘s the code you need to save and use when ordering new keys.

I’m not sure it’s necessary to record that info. When my key fob was replaced, the dealership didn’t need anything from me. I assume knowing the VIN made it possible for them to get the new key made.

Thanks,

Probably not needed but I wanted to record it since the owners manual recommended it. I would think they would have just recommended taking a snapshot of the VIN#.

On my key, the paper label seems to read S9 then some space and then the last 6 digits of the VIN#.
