• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Help! My kid pulled the 3rd row seatbelt all the way across to the other sides headrest. The seatbelt is locked into place and the 3rd row headrests arent removable. Is there anyway to release the seatbelt locking mechanism to pull the seatsbelt back around the headrest? Me and a couple other people tried to wiggle it out for 45 minutes without any luck...

Our son or one of his friends accidentally reversed the middle row headrests, and like others, I couldn't release them. After reading this thread, I found a fairly simple solution.

1) Insert a slot (flat head) screwdriver just barely under the plastic cover surrounding the post that does NOT have the push button, which is on the OTHER post. If 12 o'clock is directly behind the post as you sit in the seat, facing backwards, then insert the screwdriver at 9 o'clock. See picture for example.
2) Lift the plastic cover just enough to insert your screwdriver further in, pushing a hidden button that is under the plastic cover. You'll feel it give.
3) Let go of the screwdriver. The padding on the seat and the downward pressure of the plastic cover will sandwich the screwdriver in place. There is NO NEED TO REMOVE the plastic cover.
4) Push the lock button on the post that doesn't have the screwdriver and the headrest will lift right out.

I've attached a picture. The screwdriver is locked in place, pushing the hidden button. I love my Telluride, but I hope Kia fixes this obvious design flaw in the next model.

It's the 3rd row
This should work for the third row without the release button.

I'm sorry. I don't have a solution for you.

But this did give me just a little smile this morning as I have three boys (all young men now) who totally would have done something like that. As a matter of fact, my daughter probably would have. Or any of their friends. Or my grandson now!

Is it possible to un-bolt the belt from the lower attachment point on the floor?

Interested in how this gets fixed.

Hmm, Im not totally sure if this works for the 3rd row seats. Theres no plastic tab like the other seats. The metal connectors just go directly into the seat and into the head rests. The middle row might pop out but these 2 outside headrests wont come off.

Haha- I have 2 boys (5+6) and a 2 year old girl. This happened on Christmas day as we made a super quick pit stop at home to get some things. My 5 year old and 6 year old boys got out of their seats and running around inside the car. The 5 year old admitted to doing it and we were not happy at all as you would imagine :p

This happened to me (for a different reason).

The solution is easy. Get in the second row down, sit on the down seat, put legs over down seat facing rear third row, have someone pull the strap on third row, and the row starts to go down, and so does headrest (it folds) and you will be able to mange the seat belt from there.

It does work, just take some doing.
