• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Did a drive on the freeway today and o noticed that while using the adaptive cruise control the lane following assist feature would randomly turn off and on with no warning. Anyone else have this problem

For the LKA, it happens when it doesn't detect the lane lines. It can be finicky. During night driving, where I am the only one on the highway and can see the lines clearly, it sometimes turns off momentarily. Not so much in the day, but sometimes.
For LFA, which is what you are asking about, it has never turned off for me, but has not detected vehicles in heavy snow or heavy rain.

In my experience, it is most likely to happen if you are going very fast into a curve, or sometimes just headed into what the system deems to be too sharp of a curve. In both of those cases, the system will give up. It can also happen if it can no longer clearly figure out where the lanes are.

But no matter what, it’ll never turn off without warning… the green LFA steering wheel icon will always flash and then turn white.

Neither of the above. Bright daylight and it would randomly kick on and off even on mostly straightaways. It also never gave me a warning.

In the last 16 days I put over 6800 miles on my 3.5 month old Telluride EX with Premium Package. I really did appreciate using the Adaptive Cruise Control. It was set for 5 car distance and it gave you lots of room for those lengthy, monotonous drives. I drove from Long Island , NY down I-95 to Atlanta GA and then used I-40 and I-10 to cut across the lower US states. Made trips of about 700 miles each leg. NY - Charlotte,NC,- Monroe,LA,- Pecos ,TX,- Chandler, AZ ,- Las Vegas,NV and finally San Diego, CA. On the way back from San Diego......Gallup, NM, Oklahoma City,OK, Nashville,TN , and Front Royal, VA. I tried to play with as many bells and whistles that the car came with. I probably could have adjusted the follow distance down to maybe 3 cars. When the cruise control was on and set to lets say 85mph, alot of times I would use the accelerator to go up to 90-95 and keep it there . I noticed the Adaptive would turn off if I didn't let it do its own thing , after a while. I did appreciate that while using ACC , I would sometimes catch myself taking tiny micro-naps and the lane assist would keep me safe and alert me if I drifted. Very nice feature !!! The Navigation sysytem left alot to be desired. You cannot type in addresses while the car is in motion/drive. They need to make it so the passenger can override that issue. You can push the voice activation for navigation and a bunch of times it said that it could not understand the command. I speak perfect Kings English and it was very annoying. We would have to pull over and type in the address and it would start to work. Most of my driving was lengthy straight highway driving. Sometimes the Nav would tell me to get off at an exit ramp and I knew damn well that it was incorrect and kept on driving the path I knew to be correct. It really screwed me up telling me to get off I-40 in Memphis. I followed its instructions and was sent into a bad neighborhood of Memphis for 45 minutes. I went back and took the I-40 East where it made us get off and the rest of the way was fine. There was absolutely no reason for us to have gotten off the route. I averaged about 23-24 mpg, with the best being 27mpg. I set it for ECO mode 95% of the time and COMFORT mode 5% and didn't really notice any change. I do need to get a new windshield. Got two small bullseye chips from trucks kicking up stones. I did install the clear bra over the entire painted areas of the front end. Tomorrow when I wash the car, I will see how bad it is. At least I am confident that my front bumper and hood doesn't need a paint job. Its pretty cold out still and not alot of bugs. The spring and summer time will be a different outcome. I highly recommend using the WAZE App. Gave great info on pot holes, police and hazards ahead. I won't be complaining about the NY price of gas anymore. California was the highest at $5.15 in places. The cheapest was $3.09 in Oklahoma,Tennessee. I enjoyed using the MEDIA button to link my Pandora and iPod to play music , along with the XM radio. I did activate my Verizon hot spot, so my wife could get internet on her iPad . I will cancel hotspot service tomorrow. The heated and air condition seats were nice to use. Gallup, NM was 19* in the morning. I learned that just because you are in the south, doesn't mean that it is warm. It was colder in many places ,than back in NY. Only got rained on in Charlotte, NC on the first day of the trip and today out of Washington DC, the last day, so I can't complain. I was putting in 10-12 hours of driving each day, between hotels. I only let my wife drive for a total of 3 hours. She drives too slow and doesn't use the lane assist or ACC. Hearing the lane warning bell was driving me crazy, so I had to do the driving. With the back seats down(3rd row) there was plenty of room to leave the second row seats in the up position. This was a great car for my first cross country excursion. Hope to do another one down to Nashville. If anyone has any questions about my 6800 mile trip, ask away !

Buy yourself a Comma.ai Autopilot device and your Telluride will do everything you want.

What type of roads do you drive on? What speed? Is your windshield clean from salt/debris?

LFA uses the front camera mounted in your windshield by the mirror. If you have dirt or other debris obstructing the view, LFA may not work properly. If you drive on roads with poorly visible lane markings or dirt roads, LFA will not be able to track them. If you travel at faster speeds, even a minor bend will cause LFA to disengage. When it disengages, you are right, there is absolutely no audible warning.

Highway 285 in Atlanta. 80 mph. Window is pristine (washed and waxed car last weekend.)

There was no warning at all (audible or otherwise)

Watch closer next time you’re out and about. The little LFA steering wheel glyph will flash a few times before it goes from green to white.

It’s much more noticeable if you have the head up display.

Wasn’t happening. I was watching the dash because it happened multiple times…no visible warning.

You can't watch the dash if you are trying to watch the road, especially if it is trying to throw you into a ditch at any random moment! 😅

I just saw that Kia says that the car can get 30 MPG on highway. I'm gonna call BS unless you are driving 55 mph , even on 70-80 mph highways. I just got done driving from NY to California and back and my avg was only 23.7 mpg. The NAV system could use some improvements and sometimes after backing up and going into drive, the rear camera image stayed on the screen for too long. I hit a curb in the dark and thought for sure I bent the rim. It took a good shot and I didn't have any damage. I thought I was about to be putting on the spare, in the rain.

I made a similiar trip in December, San Fran to Chicago. Gallup NM was cold when I was there too! Got a speeding ticket in OKC, unfortunately.....

in 6800 miles of driving, I only got stopped once, just as I crossed over the Mississippi River into Louisiana. Was clocked at 84 in a 70 zone. Let off with a warning. Near end of shift. 90% of the time I admit I was doing at least 10-15 over the speed limit. There were no cops to be seen, because they are not crazy enough to be on some of those stretches of long road with nothing for 30-50 miles.
