If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Life in the Fast Lane...

Your SCC must operate totally different than mine. One tap on the break and it disengages and there is no way you can get in the left lane and keep maneuvering into the center lane and keep SCC going. SCC is for open highways and even if used in crowded highways, it is extremely fast reacting. I am afraid I just don't know what you are talking about?
Yeah I don't really understand the complaint either. If traffic is heavy and I'm moving back and forth frequently between lanes based on traffic, then that's just not a good use case for cruise of any kind, smart or adaptive or dumb. If traffic isn't quite so heavy and I can mostly stay in one lane, then adaptive cruise works extremely well for me - I'd never buy another car without it.

Heavy traffic, maybe not. But I use cruise in moderate traffic all the time very effectively. And the average human is much better at recognizing conditions, nuances of traffic flow, what's up ahead, etc than the car, and as a result I can stay on normal cruise much easier without disrupting the prevailing traffic pattern. Where I can adjust by modifying vehicle distances to soak up speed variations of other cars, in multiple lanes, smart cruise brakes (usually too hard because it's not that smart), then takes too long to recognize it's time to speed back up. It's like a step function curve instead of a sine wave. Of course I still love driving a manual so maybe I'm just unusual in my preference for driving engagement.

That's exactly right. I keep it on for a backup in case I ever lose attention - especially in city driving where I am constantly turning SCC back on. I've had my foot slip off the brake before - at the wrong time. However, I also find that I don't trust it and I will be braking (with my foot) before I allow SCC to stop for me.

Fair enough, and to each his own. I use adaptive cruise frequently in light or moderate traffic and it works great for me. I never feel like it brakes too hard, but perhaps I keep the gap ahead of me tighter than you do, so people aren't frequently merging in. Every once in awhile, I will override the acceleration simply by stepping on the gas. I don't find that it takes any more manual intervention than the old non-adaptive cruise. To the contrary, I think it works much better.

Here in chicagoland you dont have any restriction on if it is a passing lane because its not.. its just more so a fast lane and if a person is doing 70-75 that is usually good speed, but u have others that want to do wayy faster than that... im ok with u doing faster than that, but i dont need you on my bumper doing it and if you are more than likely im not moving figure it out, but ifi see from a distance that your coming fast ill move but never think u can intimidate me cause that aint gonna work...
Move over and stop being part of the problem! The left lane as defined in your rules of the road book is a passing lane. And while you are allowed to camp out in the pasing lane, you CANNOT hold up traffic moving faster than you. Actually you can get ticketed and fined for that. Not to mention inciting road rage.

Nah... here in chicagoland we have at least 3, 4 or 5 lines going one way on each side.. there is plenty of room to move around.. speed limit is 55/60..and 70 in some parts.. if I'm in the 70 area I'm probably riding first 3 lanes..but I won't ride the 4th one unless I'm rolling..when we are on a two lane (two lanes on both sides..)highway then it would be considered more of a passing lane in the left lane...only then you can receive a ticket..🤣🤣🤣

This is what I envision when I approach someone going slow in the fast lane. ;)
