• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi Everyone,

We have a 2021 Telluride SX Limited Nightsky and are currently looking at purchasing a used T@B TQ Teardrop Camper.

The camper weights 1615lbs empty and has a hitch weight of 145 lbs. The camper also is equipped with hydraulic surge brakes and is equipped with a 7-pin connector.

Just wanted to seek any advise that the Telluride should have no issues handling this? I know they are rated for 5000 lbs (with trailer brakes), but I was not to sure if the difference between having hydraulic surge brakes vs electric brakes would differ this rating. Are surge brakes capable of handing downhill grades reasonably or should the idea of converting the trailer to electric be more beneficial?

Anyone else towing any teardrop trailers or campers with surge brakes? I would love to hear your experiences and recommendations

Thanks in advance!
