This is good insight from other members. Based on what I've learned from this forum here's how I've been tracking things since placing my order with a dealer on April 21:
Since they're the only dealer I'm aware of selling below MSRP and I've seen only positive reviews they have a sizable backlog. At the time they said it would likely be 6-8 months. When I checked on May 3 I was the 35th SX in line to be picked up. Failcat shows Kia has been producing approximately 6 SX's per month for my dealer so I'm presuming that's roughly the equivalent of their monthly allocation.
At this point I'm left with watching Failcat tracking the rate SX
VIN's have been assigned for my dealer. And every two weeks or so I'll send my salesperson an email for an update on the queue. At the present rate I'm tracking toward a seven month order to delivery timeline unless a factory closure to retool for '22 models pushes it out, or increased production shortens it. The Forum consensus seems to be only '22 models will be produced if picked up by Kia at this point.
