Minnesota Kia Dealers MSRP

Are you Lupient people getting them at MSRP?
I went to Lupient yesterday to test drive the Telluride and they said $1000 over MSRP. I said that Luther Kia and Barnett Kia are both selling at MSRP, but Lupient did not budge.

Yikes I thought things where getting better. They told me 5-6 months in early January.

They told me the same when I was there in Jan.

I followed up with my sales rep the other day and he told me they will stop taking orders this Saturday (2/19) temporarily. They have over 300 on the wait list. Looking in Failcat, they didn't even get that many in all of 2021. 12 months may be generous if Kia doesn't ramp up.

Just to add on to this. Luther Bloom -> not taking orders. Lupient -> 1k over MSRP. Luther Inner Grove -> not taking orders until 2023 ordering comes out. White Bear Lake -> not taking orders. Mankato -> 3k over. Des Moines -> 5k over. Am just going to wait until 2023 ordering opens up.

We also Ordered from Lupient Kia. Reason we went with them over our local Kia dealer in Mankato is because they offer a $1000 refundable deposit and were not pushy on "required" options or buying what they had already on their lot (which was one telly) that we were not even interested in. Mankato did not offer a refundable deposit and were forcing us over to the Hyundai dealer and asked twice "What would we need to do to get you into this used palisade?" If it was free is about it since it's not a car we even remotely want after driving the Telluride along with zero of the options either.

Order was picked up December 10th and ETA of mid Feb. So far I have had great experience with them and they have stayed well in communication with me!

doesn't sound like a fun experience. BUT whats the difference between Palisade and Telluride given they are made in the same factory (I'm trying to decide between the two currently. ha)

Telluride and Pallisade are not manufactured in the same factory. Pallisade in S. Korea. Telluride exclusively in West Point Georga.

Ya I got word from Luther in Bloomington that my order from January was accepted and got my VIN and one of my neighbors was ordered in November and received in July.

When did you order in Jan? And when did Luther reach out? My sales guy told me a couple of weeks ago that they were picking up Jan orders. I ordered at the very beginning of Feb so I know I am getting close to getting picked up.

January 6th was our order date. Rep reached out saying Kia took the order the 2nd week of August and we got the VIN on the 18th.

Dang lucky. I just talked to them on Wednesday and my order from January is 2 allotments behind. They said there are 8 orders ahead of me. Timeline looking like October. Feels so close but so far away.

Been shopping dealers for a couple of months now, all Telluride orders are closed.

Luther Bloomington
Luther IGH
Cornerstone
Jeff Belzer (say they are, but finance department won't reveal actual numbers and payments are extremely high)

Rochester
Duluth

I ordered EX model in December 2021 with Kia of St Cloud @ MSRP. Pricing may have changed since then. Fargo Kia was actually $500 below MSRP at the time, but I went with st cloud due to proximity location. I still have not had my order picked up by Kia, so I assume it will be a 2023 model. The dealers cannot enter any new orders right now. System is not opened up for 2023 yet, but should be very soon.

My data is a couple years out of date now, but I shopped these dealers extensively. I found Luther Bloomington and Lupient to both be straightforward, with good communication. I ended up ordering from Lupient and had frequent (and accurate) communication from the sales manager (who I checked in with every few weeks) throughout the process. When my order came in, there were zero surprises and no high-pressure finance tactics. On the other hand, I did not care at all for my experiences with the other Twin Cities dealers - Luther IGH, Belzer, Barnett. I found them to be very unwilling to give me information as to where my place in line would be, what (if any) required extras would come later, refundable deposits, etc.

As for the outstate options (including Cornerstone), make sure to check how many allocations they actually get. Sometimes it's better to be farther back in line as long as the dealer gets a lot of cars coming in. Good luck everyone!

For us, we placed a deposit in May at Lupient. $1k over. Little to no communication since then. Put a deposit in August at Fowler in CO at MSRP. At this point I’m going to spend $1000 whether it’s over MSRP or to travel to CO to pick up. Just a matter of when. Not holding hope that Lupient will get me a car within the next 6 months that they estimated with their allocation.

Not sure if I want to even go to the other dealers and wait longer. Should have done my DD and asked around before going straight to Lupient.

Have you spoken with a sales manager there? For any dealer (Lupient or otherwise), I'd try to establish a connection with a sales manager. Send them an email about every 6 weeks and ask for an update and their current best guess at timing. In your situation, I'd do this at both dealerships. Good luck!

I’m working with Vadim at Lupient. Messaged him probably 6 weeks ago to add tow package and he said he’d see if he could, no response. Nothing about the 23 conversion.

Fowler actually texted me saying our order will be converted to 23 and will let me know when ordering opens, this was last Monday.

Hmmm, interesting. I had great success with Vadim, but that was a couple years ago. I did everything by email with him and Andrew Goetzke so I could keep records. Their email addresses are on the Lupient website. Hope it all works out for you.

It's my understanding that higher volume dealers get more cars faster. Each dealer, based on volume, is only allocated so many builds per month. It's better to order from a high volume dealer, even though they probably have many more orders. It looks like you made a good choice by going with St. Cloud over Fargo, but I'm still surprised it's taking so long.
