• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... First I did Fumoto valve for oil drain pan and now I have the Oil Filter easily accessible instead of having to remove ~6 fasteners. Cutout didn't remove any fastening points.

Nice job, looks like it was cut with a hatchet and now it's exposed to road debris and when you spill oil in there when removing the filter it will make an excellent sand, grit, grime and dirt trap.

Classic example of fixing a small problem by creating a much bigger problem.

You guys must be delightful to hang out with, lol.

I just averaged 29mpg on a 300 mile trip, have easier access for oil changes and will notice leaks quicker.

The probability of something getting in there and ruining something is close to nill; especially relative to the GIANT gaps on each side of the cover.

Haha, you guys are harsh, but yah, I wouldn't of done that. Probably spent more time cutting it Rather than undoing the bolts.

No reason to explain yourself. Remember it is okay for someone not to agree with you, it doesn’t mean we dislike you.

Yes there are gaps, but now you have one right at the plastic oil filter cap. Better likelihood of getting hit or damaged.

Are you doing like weekly oil changes that not removing the 6 fasteners saves all that time? 😂

i was debating on doing something like this but i decided not to due to how small the panel is...i did cut a notch out for my fumoto install though...but if it works for you that's all that matters...don't worry about what everyone on here thinks...the whole filter and housing design is dog sh!t to being with anyway...and on top of that it's made of plastic, brilliant!...not sure why they couldn't just use a typical metal oil filter design and put it somewhere that you don't need to remove a panel at all...my subaru has the cleanest oil changes as the filter is inverted on top of the engine but i'm sure that has something to do with the flat 4 boxer engine design

Eight! Mere eight easily loosen and retighten bolts/fasteners (compared to hard to remove clips with my other cars). Actually, I'm spoiled now with our Telluride. But that's only my perspective. Thanks.

It's your ride, do what you want. If something happens, others can say "told you so", if nothing happens then it didn't matter what they said anyway. 👍🏻
