• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Navigation issues

I bought a Kia Telluride EX, the navigation system worked fine up until March of 2020, I’ve contacted the dealership as they were no help, I called Kia customer service several times with not much help, they said they would send a SD card for it but couldn’t tell me where I had to put the SD card, I’ve searched that car high and low and can not find a slot for a SD. Anytime I try and search a new address, it says location not found weak signal or offline! If I use a previous destination it works with no problems! Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah, it doesn't work that well. It's not a Mercedes. But, there is a software update they may apply posted in the TSB section of forum. I need to do that update. And then there is the Mapnsoft update which should be available soon for purchase. Also, for voice, I think you need an active UVO subscription. Did your UVO expire?

If you want voice recognition, you'll likely be much better served with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

My UVO did expire around the same time my GPS stopped working, I didn’t renew it because I never used any of the features it came with besides starting my car from my phone. Wasn’t worth almost 300 a year just to start my car for 10 minutes. I’ve never used the voice commands either. I contacted another dealership today, I’m having no luck with a local dealer as his response is you need to pay for your navigation to work 🤷‍♀️ My car said it comes with navigation and doesn’t state you need to pay for anything beside using extra features added with the UVO.

They should of sent you a USB thumbdrive, there's no SD card slot in the Telluride as it has it's own onboard memory for data. Must of been a misunderstanding by the rep. I'd suggest contacting them again and saying you got the wrong media format and should of gotten the USB. Don't know if the update files for the Telluride were bundled in the SD card, the USB looks like several models got bundled with it, reason I say it could be possible to copy from the SD to a USB drive you might have available, also they might not have them as just noticed today the next update was announce on Mapnsoft for mid august, and the ver14 was pulled from ordering.
I ended up contacting another dealer and he said he was going to follow up with Kia and take care of it, hopefully it works out but he did say it probably needs to be hooked up and updated.

So you need to turn "Use UVO network" off under Navigation settings. Then you can use Navigation without UVO. Not sure about voice recognition. I would agree that it's poorly explained. There is another thread with instructions on turning off the UVO network. I will have to do it next week!

I already did this a couple months ago, it worked for that day but then stopped working again.

Sounds like I have a headache coming when. I attempt to do the same. :(
Hopefully the new place I’m going to is able to help, I’ve washed my hands of Bill dodge of Kia, but I did not pay 6k more for a car to not have a Navigation system! Hopefully yours goes smoothly and it’s not a telluride thing, I was the first person in my state to buy one which means I’d be the first to deal with this issue. I bought it 2 days after it was released so lesson learned to never buy a new car before the kinks are figured out!

Update on navigation issues, after a long battle with Kia, they sent me a USB port with a updated map version. After updating tonight my GPS worked to navigate to any address typed! I’m hoping tomorrow it still works and this hopefully has solved my issue.

Kia's navigation updater is online at Navigation Updater | Official Kia Motors Navigation Update Website You can download the updates and use your own flash drive. You will need the software version number which can be found in Settings>System Information> SW Information or Settings > System Information > Version information.

Bought a Telluride SX a month ago. The navigation system doesn’t work properly......you can speak an address and a POI and it will display, but if you try and type the address or POI, it shows as not found. Tested an SX on the dealer lot this week and it works correctly. The dealership says I need a new radio however Kia Motors refuses to ship them a replacement. We have sent videos to Kia Motors of the malfunction, videos of the car on the lot working properly, sent them the version of the radio and map system....everything they’ve asked for. We are 1 month in with a malfunctioning nav system and Kia Motors still hasn’t resolved. I have called consumer affairs number but does anyone else have any other ideas to get this remedied?
You want to go to update.kia.com - download the Navigation Updater app. You will need a Thumb drive 128g or bigger. Using the app following the directions download the latest update for the Telluride directly onto the thumb drive. Once that is completed, plug the thumb drive into the vehicle and the system will update. The latest update released Nov. 2020 will fix the problem

I am having the same problem. I did let mu UVO package expire after one year since we are not using it much. But nothing in the packages says anything is required for address lookup. Please confirm the Lite package does not limit basic nav functions.

Answering a question asked 15 months ago. And you can also use as small as 32GB thumb drive.

Can take as little as 30 minutes of quick update is chosen during install on the head unit. Car can be plugged into a battery charger with engine off as well.

First try disabling UVO network connection in the Settings > Voice Recognition on the head unit. If that does not work, usually updating the UVO software will usually restore address search function.

Talked to Telluride support. If you do a search with Lite it takes you to the screen with the error messages. The first option on the screen is to search in offline mode at which point it did successfully complete the search and find the address.

He also said that the update changes the search to automatically switch to offline mode - which is probably why the recommendation of updating works.

I'm having this same issue! Did you call a Kia dealership to get the USB or somewhere else?! I'm tired of my nav not working. Like you- I paid for it once! Not paying for it again

2nd on simply trying an update before anything else. Conflicting software, error in a code, who knows. Do this first and than check.

I am having issues with the remote start feature/APP and I have been dealing with consumer affairs for over 2 weeks now. I either email or call them everyday and sometimes I do both. I have tried everything to get this APP to work. Will work part of the time then it will give an error message and will not start car. It's time to ask for an aftermarket remote start kit and key fob and get rid of this ridiculous APP! Let them know you are not happy and tell them you are going to report them to the Better Business Bhe will help you ureau. Your dealership should help you get a replacement. Keep after them as well.
call ctv news Pat Foram and he will help you resolve and he will put on news.. (kia wont want the bad wrap

I've installed the updater on my windows desktop and I have a 64 gb usb drive but the updater only wants to download the 57 gb file to a hard drive. Unclear why it won't download directly to the usb. At this point I do not have enough space on my hard drive for the file. Is there a workaround to get it to download directly to the usb?

There should be a way to set the default download directory to your USB drive in the updater software if you dig around the settings. This is separate from the action of starting the download.

I've been through every setting on the tool and there does not seem to be a way to do the initial download directly (or even indirectly) to a usb drive. When I try to do it, it gives me a warning that I need to download the file to a "hard drive". I even tried mapping a director on my c: drive to a usb drive but that did not work either and it does not recognize the 1 tb of space I have in cloud storage. I've got an external SSD drive on order to see it that will work. Not clear to me what the goal is in first requiring a download of the package to a hard drive, then copying it to a usb drive for installation in the car.
