If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We have a 21 SX we got in October, but are taking a 19 hour trip. I am tall and experienced shoulder pain because the head rest pushes you forward and your neck, shoulders don't touch the seat. It's been painful.

Anyone uncomfortable like this? Suggestions?

Understand about safety concerns.

Thanks

Shoulder pain sucks.

How tall are you? Maybe you can find some aftermarket replacement headrests that can just drop into the existing holes on top of the seat back that could possibly help?

How about seat padding to allow your back to rest mor flush with the OEM headrest.

Good afternoon.
We ( wife and self ) are lucky in that we find the ‘21 Telluride headrests fit us well and are comfortable. ( just picked it up last week). But our 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 ( we use it to tow our RV ) had very obtrusive, uncomfortable head rests. We swapped the back seat headrests ( crew cab ) with the fronts and that gave us more head room, but weren’t satisfactory. So I figured I would change the angle of the headrests.

I did this by removing the headrests then wrestled the leather covers off them. Then using various wood blocks I set up a headrest on the ground under the back bumper and using more wooden blocking and a hydraulic jack I bent the steel rods that insert into the seat to create a more comfortable angle for the headrest. I wish I would have taken photos of the procedure as it would make way more sense than all these words.

The main points that I followed were:
1. I measured the spacing distance between the holes in the seat back where the rest inserts. I then took a 2”x4” board and drilled two holes equal to the spacing and slightly larger in diameter than the headrest tubes in the board. This is to maintain the alignment and width of the tubes.
2. I made sure to change the angle of the tubes ( create the bend ) in the headrest itself. This is to make sure the height adjustability of the headrest is maintained to accommodate varying driver and passenger heights.
3. I found that under the pressure of the hydraulic jack, the headrest tubes exhibited a lot of spring and would yield ( bend ) then return somewhat. So a trial, then release pressure and check the angle. A little bit at a time worked great. Also make sure to keep the tubes parallel, as in bend uniformly.
4 I used a “ sliding T bevel” where I had the approximate angle I wanted to achieve set and used it to check progress.

Anyways, they came out great. We’ve even had other Ram owners sit in our truck and wondered where we got the custom headrests as they didn’t push their heads forward.

If you have questions or need clarification of this description, just post and I will post a reply.

Thanks, I think that is a,great idea. We have a welding, fabrication shop in our town. Will take it there to have some adjustments made.

Having all the equipment and know how would make it much easier to adjust the headrest angle.
As I mentioned, it made our Ram much more comfortable and we put in multiple 10 hour days with our trips north and south.....except this year. We are stuck at home in Canada.

Good luck and hope it turns out well for you.

I am experiencing same! Even headaches. I can't even turn my head my neck gets so stiff. You tube channel is Mr. Mighty Tiger. Good luck! If you find a replacement, let me know. I will do the same.
I read on Telluride forum to try changing out the front headrests with the ones in the back. I plan to try it tomorrow. Also, on youtube, I saw a gentleman using a 1/2" x 36" steel pipe to bend the steel rods if the headrests into a suitable angle.

I love everything about the Telly except the seat, and especially the head rest position- the amount of forward tilt with no adjustment is ridiculous, and the c shape cure of the seats are more like a gaming chair than a correct back posture seat. So bummed about the uncomfortable seat design we are thinking of selling our 2021 brand new telly. We did take the headrests to a car/airplane upholstery shop and had them take 3 inches of thickness out which helped a tiny bit- but still the angle of the curved back, and forward shoved head still is not comfortable. That combined with rock hard seats (EX leather) is really not great if you have any back issues-

rock hard seats?

Wow, I'm 5' 11", and the drivers seat in the Telluride fits like a glove. I can see where if you leave the headrest all the way down, and your more than a inch or two taller in the torso then me, your shoulders could hit the headrest. However, it seemed to me like if the headrest were raised a couple inches, that wouldn't likely to be a problem. So, I'm a little confused by this topic.

Anyway, I suppose I should just consider myself fortunate , that I fit in the drivers seat very nicely, and have virtually no complaints about comfort.

Quinsta01,
Yes. I am uncomfortable, too, and only 5 feet! Sadly, one cannot adequately gauge the comfort of a chair in the 10-15 minute test chair.

For now, I just turned my headrest backwards. I haven't gotten around to adjusting the metal bars f the headrest. I'm going to try pulling the metal bars back with a long steel pipe (you can purchase from Lowes/Home Depot for $6). The video is on youtube.
(If you have a vice, better yet.) Good luck.

Hi, I am 5-4 and I am having extreme pain in my right side sit bone area after driving. I used to have a Toyota 4Runner and no problems. I feel like the seat is too high and I have to stretch for the gas pedal. Not obvious until a 4 hour drive. Has anyone else had this problem? I have the 2021 Telluride. Thanks

I’m sorry that happened! You’re an inch taller than I (also small build, short torso). I was able to find a comfortable position on a 2.5-hour drive. I like to max out the lumbar support. Have you messed with that yet? I took me a bit to switch from a top-mounted accelerator to the Telluride’s floor-mounted one, but I am not noticing that anymore.

The passenger seat doesn’t have lumbar support, and my back hates it. I got a black mesh-type support for long drives. You might try similar for the driver seat.

We have a 4Runner as well. I’m able to get comfortable in it, but I don’t drive it lots.

I am having the same issues. I've had my 2021 Telluride S since March and I cannot get comfortable. I already had some back in neck issues but this is just not cutting it I don't know what to do I hate to get rid of the car but there is no way to adjust the headrest . I am 5'11 the top of the seat does not touch my back at all very uncomfortable

I found something on amazon, kind of a wedge think that I put in for long rides. I agree that both the headrests and the seats are not as comfortable as they could be. Some firends just bought a new Highlander Hybrid. because they did not want to wait for a Telluride. I hate to say it, but their deats were a lot more comfortable than our SX.

solution: a lot of folks suffer from the headrest pushing the head too far forward ... there are many reasons why they are designed that way, but if it causes severe ergonomic issues,
